First of all Morpheus....... you certainly assume a great deal. I have not been enrolled at CRC any time in my life. Therefore, if I have not attended there it would be impossible for me to play ball there. In answer to your questions concerning my scholarships while in college in 1978. I received none...... at least sport scholarships. I made a choice to focus on academics rather than sports. I hope that meets your approval. I would not sleep well at night thinking something I did was not up to your standard. It does however, amaze me that seemingly everyone who takes up for Coach Perkins must attack personally those of us who simply give our opinions about his coaching style. Just as you have done here by talking about my "level". As hoopsfan has done by speaking of "sorry lives" and going in a fit of anger. As far as I know.......... if you are going to coach there will always be differing opinions about coaching styles. If a coach cannot handle criticism and heat then get out of the kitchen. I nor anyone else that I know of in this forum have attacked coach Perkins personally as his followers have us. You can attack me all day long..... however, I will not return in like kind. See you at the Boys Club.

if people wouldnt have bashed last years players, this argument would not even have started. i agree with all those defending last years players. i personally know some of the players from last year and according to them they were no trouble makers on the team. i asked them why only two players came back and they said that they didnt like coach perkins.

just some updates on some of last years players:
Leroy bell- he is playing up at Bethel in mckenzie,tn. is on a full ride and will be the starting pg. they were supposed to scrimmage crc but they cancelled b/c they knew they would not get a challenge b/c they are a 4 year naia d1 school playing a juco w/out scholarships. Leroy has been told that coach perkins is saying that bethel's coach is scared to play them? what does perkins have against leroy? Leroy helped him to his career high in wins as a head coach and he is trying to show him up. anyway best of luck to leroy, great kid and great player.

Artomie Dixon- he is at shorter college in north little rock. He said that they were supposed to play crc but perkins cancelled on shorter. sounds fishy? i dont know but he sounds scared. I hope artomie has a great year and goes somewhere else.

Keith Bowles- he is at the University of Ozarks and should be able to play there. best of luck to Keith.

also i talked to chris hall the other day and he said he will probably not going to be back at crc next semester so u cant blame him for quitting. he is a great guy and cant blame him for not wanting to put up with the crap again this year.

What "crap"? There is/was no "crap". Coach Perkins is the coach. Period. It's his job to run his team his way. Anyone that doesn't understand that is supplying the "crap". Then Coach Perkins flushes it. It's as simple as that.

Hey "gohogsgo and Charlie Brown", since you know all there is regarding scholarships and apparently know how simple it is to get these scholarships funded at a Private Christian College, why don't you both get together and start a scholarship for the athletics department at CRC? I'm sure the administration would be more than happy. I also know most of the players on the team this year and I look forward to watching their games. Coach Perkins and the Pioneers have my support and I do believe it takes more than a couple of weeks for boys who have never played before to adapt to the way other players play, but I feel confident that they will indeed adapt, and they will become a "team" with great leadership. clap.gif

As for you Charlie Brown, you sounded like you knew so much about the players and Coach Perkins and how he coached that I'm sure many people thought you surely played under this coach. How else would you have the right to complain about his leadership. doh.gif

One does not have to play or attend a certain college to know about the players and or the coach and I might add the inner workings of the college. For starters ..... you can pay the admission price and walk right in the door as I have. It also does not take long to visit with players to see and hear what is going on. It also does not take long to see the type of coaching that is taking place. However, that in itself is not the point. The point is that you can get on here and call names ...... make personal attacks....... and justify yourself in doing that. Others of us simply state opinions and suddenly we are devils. Fine with me..... I am the devil. As far as my right to complain... or I would use a better word.... question leadership....... that came the day I wrote the first check to CRC........ and I am no longer talking about the price of admission. Not everyone is thrilled. You asked the question......... and I have answered it. Now sit around the rest of the evening and try to put those puzzle parts together. Be all means....... keep those personal attacks coming......... they do speak volumes. There is always saftey in numbers..... so I for one am very glad you just joined this forum. May of us see the truth even more clear now. Thank you for leanding your hand with that.

Okay, Charlie Brown, at first you tell me that you did not attend CRC at any time during your life, then in the next quote you tell me that your right to complain came the day you first wrote your check to CRC and you were no longer talking about the price of admission. I'm sure CRC appreciates your donation since you have never been enrolled at CRC. It is a great college.

Now you tell me I am making personal attacks against you - all I did was voice my opinion. I'm not "attacking" you personally. Just your opinion of a team that I like and a coach I view as outstanding. I, too, was at some of the games last year and I find him very professional, enthusiastic and disciplined. Some players simply defy authority figures, and just can't cut it, or won't. No sense in taking it out on the coach when he is doing his part. A team player comes from the player himself, and if he has no intention of being a team player, it is not the fault of the coach. I heard that he benched two of his starters one game for not being at the game when they were supposed to be there, and was heckled by many for disciplining those boys. You can't have it both ways. They either abide by the rules and become a team that plays together, or they break the rules, feeling they are above them, and play their own game, which, as you or someone else pointed out they should be BENCHED.

By the way, thanks for the warm welcome United_States.gif

Thank you for your words of wisdom.

mdr.gif Any time, my dear Charlie Brown, any time. Thank you as well.

goeaglesgo- 10-07-2006
morpheus you call the coach discipline? discipline in what? they gave up almost 100 points a game last year so there is no discipline on defense. 9 players left many citing the lack of discipline and leadership. doesnt sound like discipline but i guess different people have different meanings of discipline.

Morpheus- 10-08-2006
Did you just "call names?" Personal attack? ohmy.gif Just kidding, doesn't bother me for you to call me by my name.

I said Coach Perkins was "disciplined" in the way he coached his team, his professional attitude and the way he conducted himself while coaching the team during a game. clap.gif

Defense. Now, you say 9 players left citing no discipline on defense. Who is playing defense during the game? The players. You coach during practice, during a game, your team should know how to play defense on their own, not whine that they can't play defense because of the coach.

It all boils down to the fact that the coach provides leadership, which I believe he does, and did during the games I was at, and the players have to step up during the game and be able to take some of the responsibility for not playing defensively if there was no defense. Coach Perkins can't go out there and play for them. They have to do it themselves and quit complaining and using someone else as a scapegoat for them not doing their job on defense.

I look forward to this season, and hopefully I will be able to attend a few more of the games. I have a lot of confidence in this team and I feel certain they will be a team that plays like a "team." I don't know any on the team who are definitely not team players, but someone said they did. If so, I'm sure Coach Perkins will take care of that during practice. It is during practice that you teach, and during a game, the players have to know what they are doing and Git-R-Done! 0c4fae0e.gif

Man, I was hoping to go to Paragould and watch the "Battle of the Pioneers" this year. Wonder why CRC & NorthArk aren't playing this year. Seems that two AR JUCO teams would want to play. Oh well, maybe next year.
