This one will be broadcast on NEARsports Radio.
i hope that mo state @west plains is paying them some money. that is a huge mismatch!! how many future d-1's does mo state have this year? how many does crc have? point made!
Better watch out gohogsgo............ people have gotten their hands slapped for making negative statements in this forum. For what it is worth...... I got your point and so do others.
Tough schedule, but I like the challenge.
Yes, gohogsgo, MO State West Plains is very good, but so is East Oklahoma, Carl Albert, Shawnee College, North Central Missouri, St. Louis Forest Park. I think it is great that CRC is willing to step up and play tough teams that are above their heads. But looking at the rest of the games, this should be very competetive.
I also read in the paper today they have two teams that won National Championships last season. Hillsdale College was ACCA Champs, and North Lake was NJCAA Champs. Dont' you think you need to play better teams to get better?
I have not seen the team yet, have heard good things about the first two weeks of practice however.
Looking at this schedule I would say, 17-13 this season.
GO PIONEERS!!!!!!
CRC plays a pretty tough schedule every year there isn't a big difference than before but how can you say that crc is going to have a great season the way you do, when last year they had a really good team also but they still couldn't get it done of course they made an ok impression in the national tournament but the ACCA is a joke. Now before anyone gets on here and says last years team was selfish and about individual accolades I know a few of the players on the team this year and they're anything but team players. You never know they may go undefeated lol.
dreams3.......... 100% correct with everything you say!
Dont' you think you need to play better teams to get better?
yes, i do. but you also are trying to build a strong, solid program. at least you should be! when you think about how many juco's actually play ball in this state currently. which is a disgrace in itself! there are plenty of talented players in this state, that could play d-2 and possibly d-1 basketball, not to mention west tn, and south mo. crc should make a killing off of these areas. you just have to shake the bushes and find those kids. i do believe that you should play a tough schedule to make you better for your conference season. bring on the best, but be realistic. how many players are on scholarships at crc? not a knock, just a question. how many players are on scholarships at these powerhouse juco's that they are playing? it truly does make a HUGE difference in the caliber of athlete/student that you get, especially at the juco level. i do wish crc the best this year. i hope that they do have a strong TEAM chemistry, too. it is just hard to build confidence in yourself and your team, when you are getting beat 40 points or worse, just because they give full scholarships and you don't! keep your heads up fellas!
Great points all around and CRC gives no scholarships thats why they don't win a lot of games because scholarships give you a lot more interest from players and yes maybe you will get a diamond in the rough but not likely there aren't a lot of smush parkers in the world

This aspect is being worked on as we speak.
There you go with that negative stuff again.
What aspect giving scholarships are you kidding CRC is a tight school they don't give money easily and you have to think that if they give basketball scholarships then they have to give either volleyball or softball scholarships and I just don't see that happening. But as I always say I could be wrong if they get to start giving scholarships then good for them but until then they won't win a lot of games.
I agree with dreams......... I would find it very strange that a SMALL school like CRC would just all of a sudden start handing out scholarships..... at least the type of scholarships that would pull in quality players. What dreams said is very true.... if you start with basketball then you must carry that to the other sports or they will suffer. No one likes anything that appears to be unfair.... even though life it self is not fair. If CRC started scholarships then a great deal of revenue would be lost due to those scholarships since the census itself is very small accordingly. Of course..... I personally NEVER say NEVER. So it could happen..... just like it could happen that the cow really does jump over the moon. However, I personally think that even with scholarships there must be other things to offer a player as well. Such as growth in the sport.....being lead...... being taught....... strength training..... etc..... so they can go on to play somewhere else when their time runs out at CRC. Most can play pick up games...... but not at a higher level without leadership. Leadership is what pulls a group of young men together that otherwise would be "Lone Rangers" and makes them a team. Leadership!
CRC has been talking about giving scholarships for a few years now. But.... like charliebrown said just because you give scholarships its not going to guarentee a win. Look at Williams' mens' program.
