I am so proud of the young ladies that are responsible for this article. Understanding that not all children are intrested in sports, I ask Mrs Bohanon to find some bright young middle school students that have a desire to be apart of EYAA and have a interest in journalism, so that we could began coverage of our games and events. Thank you Mrs. Bohanon, you and your team did an excellence job, I am beyond proud of the direction that the program is headed.
Enjoy the Article and remeber that the journalist are in the elementary and middle school. Look for more articles with player and coach interviews

The Earle Youth Activities Association Enters its’ 5th Year in the city of Earle, AR
A staggering number of youth are involved in the EYAA Program, the one and only program of its kind in the city and surrounding area for at least 20 miles. “I think this program and the individuals that support it, are making a positive difference in the lives of the children here in the community. It’s not just about sports--we operate both a football and basketball program---its’ about being here for the kids; keeping them out of trouble, giving them a safe place to hang out, in a positive atmosphere where they are being mentored” states Christopher Robinson, co-founder of the EYAA program’s. “Everyone that works with our program are natives of Earle, which is to be greatly commended for us to be able to come together and give back to the community. The community supports us by allowing us to work with their children; our children and chosen generation.”
EYAA kicked off its basketball season with bang on March 15, 2008. Parents and patrons poured into the old Earle High School gymnasium to support more than 106 youth, ranging from grades 1st through 6th grades, spanning a total of ten teams for this years’ basketball league. Each team is sponsored by a church or local business in the community. Players anxiously awaited the turn with their teams to have their pictures made. Everyone was all smiles and waited patiently to have both their individual and team photo made.
GAME TIME
The games got off to a slow start because of the photo shoot but once the clock started, there was no turning back…
The first game was the S.J Bulldogs vs. the W.H.J Tar Heels. Both anxiety and heart were displayed in this game as many first year players gave it their best shot, which ended in a victory for the Bulldogs, 9-4. After this particular game, the players were all smiles congratulating one another for their teamwork and positive attitudes. “I have a team in which for most of them, this is their first year playing in the league. I’m proud of them; these kids have a lot of heart and energy,” stated Tar Heels’ Coach Patrick Gray. “We’re looking forward to a great season ”.
The next game was an adrenalin-infused nail-biter between the J.W.A Eagles and the L.G Spurs as no one could be found leaving the stands, afraid to miss the action. The game ended in a emotional tailspin; a 36-32 victory for the Eagles. These two teams were identically matched in talent and spirit. “We came out and gave it our best shot” Spurs player Jalen Warren commented. “We love the sport and enjoy having the opportunity to play here...it’s about having fun. I’m definitely looking forward to Saturdays!”
Game three was an equally energetic one between the T.D.C. Wildcats and the J.W.A Tigers. It proved victorious for the Tigers, with a 14-4 win over the Wildcats. These two teams consisted of both rookies and veterans of the league, but it was clearly undetectable in their efforts and stamina during the game.
Game four would prove to be another energetic one as the N.B. Bulls took on the M.B. Allstars. Clearly heart, talent, agility, and stamina would have to be the stakes for this game. The Allstars walked away with a victory over the Bulls, 31-23. Both teams exhibited the characteristics of true sportsmanship, as mirrored by all the teams in the league. “We have a great group of kids this year and we’re glad to be able to have the chance to work with them,” stated the coaches of both teams.
Game five would be the first for the F.B Warriors and the second of the day for the S.J. Bulldogs. The Warriors walked away from this game with a 6-5 win. The first quarter would prove to be the holder for the game, ending with a 5-1 lead for the Warriors. Attempts were made to increase the scores on the board but there was no luck in the stars for either team to reach double digits. “I think everyone played well and had a good time today. I think kids having fun is what it’s all about,” stated Shurn Dunn, a player for the Bulldogs.
Good luck guys on the rest of the season!!!!!
