Turrell has more talent this season than it has in the past 2 years. We have a speedy shortstop who has range and an arm and a fast second baseman. we also have some pitching this season and have people who can hit. we may not win the conference but we are going to be competitive.

I believe Larose also coached Batesville's Highwaymen, the AAA Legion team this past year.

That sounds good and all but i see some problems

1. You may have a good shortstop and a good 2nd baseman, but do you have a 1st baseman that can catch it? Highly doubtful

2. A lack of pitching. What good are your defenders up the middle when teams are hitting the ball over your infielders head? If the ball gets into the outfield against turrell its a guarenteed two base error.

3. A lack of hitting. I know in Riverside's case they have thrown people who have NEVER started a game in their lives against Turrell. Most of the time it ends up being a no-hitter or a shutout.

I'm sorry to tell you this but none of Turrell's games will go past the 3rd inning....

Yes that is correct. At one time he was named the best pitcher in arkansas and the best hitter in arkansas.

well the sun has to shine on a dog's butt every once in awhile. and yes we did stink something awful last year...i am not going to stoop to high school level slandering. i am a teacher at turrell and also the assistant baseball coach and basketball score keeper. i just said we were going to be better and more competitive. we open the season at brinkley next friday and for the first time in a long time all the players are excited about playing. don't try to take that away from us.

how is bays pitching?? you lost 3 Sr. pitchers. Is Duval all you have left and is he ready? Who else pitches? Yes, you've got a great coach ( so do the girls BTW) but pitching and catching can make or break it. Is Harmon gonna be able to handle it behind the plate ? who else catches?

lots of rebuilding. Good for future years, not good for this year

Pitching is the main thing right now but Nix will do a good job behind the plate so catching isnt a concern. I think that we will do fine this year and hopefully we can get back to state tournament. If we listen to coach then we will do good.

i forgot about about NIx. Yeah, he's a good ball player. He stepped up last year.

Thats all I can think of right now, but we will do just fine if we listen to what coach says.
And I HATE it when people say this is a re-building year.

No offense, rocket, but every team in the conference is in rebuilding mode. BIC had one last year, and is about to go through another one this year due to the new coach coming in over there. It's not as bad as you are making it sound.

I know its not a bad thing.
Just the way she put it.
She said "good for future year, not for this year."
That is what irritated me.
This is our last year to play in the conference.
We have won it the past 5 years.
And I am going to leave EVERYTHING on the field EVERYTIME I play to make this year the 6th.

I don't think the coach thing will hurt as bad in baseball as it did in basketball.
I know baseball is still a team sport but there is alot of individualism if thats a word.
Its you and a pitcher when hitting,and on defense you have to play your position.
In basketball the coach can try to control the tempo & tempo is alot in basketball.
If you think about I think you will know what I'm talking about.

I'm telling everyone the Cody Smith thing hurt more than the coach thing & its going to hurt in baseball too.

Not to say that Coach Rhoades won't be missed because he will be.He was always good for a couple runs agame himself,but its not like Hargrove is a 1st year coach.
He does have a state championship in baseball.
