The only reason I would say that 4A-2 Girls might sweep is because both times I've seen Highland play they've tried to press alot.. If they do that against Stuttgart they'll be in for a long night.. Stuttgart is very fast and plays 5-6 deep off the bench.. And IF they can hit 1/4 of the 3's they'll shot, well who knows.. Stuttgart gave Southside fits all season, had them down by 10 at Stuttgart and couldn't finish and finally got them at Dist.. There should be some dandy games this coming week.. I've already got my front row seat reserved..

What teams in 4a region 3 girls can compete with the 4a region 2 teams? region
2 teams are ranked pretty high in state, but I know that doesn't mean anything
at this time. Who might upset BK , Lonoke, Heber ?

neafbfan- 02-18-2008
Westside,Valley View,Pocahontas and Highland.

The Lady Redskins would be my pick to pull an upset this week IF they were at full strength. But considering the drama this past week look for one and done.

Valley View will have a hard time with Heber. I hear they are really playing well lately. Heber will have to stop the penetration by the VV point guard to win.

Westside could pull an upset but they will have to play really good and hit some shots early to stay close.

Highland Lady Rebels only lost one conference game all year. VV played them close every time and Pokey beat them once. Westside also beat Highland in the NEA tournament when Highland had two girls out of town. Highland should take care of Stutgart as long as they come to play.

Bald Knob 63 Westside 48

Valley View 58 Heber Springs 57

Stuttgart 66 Highland 64

Pocahontas 56 Lonoke 55

Isn't Lonoke the defending regional champs? I thought they played in the finals against Pokey last year. Does Lonoke have very many returning players from last years team?

I thought Highland won the Regional last year? nearsports/0c4fae0e.gif

Yep, your right. They beat Pocahontas by 1 in the finals last year.

Bald Knob upset Sublett and the #2 rebels last year...a upset I picked. wink.gif

The Weatherman- 02-19-2008
I changed 1 score.

Missco- 02-19-2008
I would be highly shocked if Highland gets beat.
My picks are :
Highland over Stuttgart
Bald Knob over Westside
Valley View over Heber Springs
Lonoke over Pocahontas---This one could go either way.

Tuckermans Girls coach has called Suttgarts, and told them how to beat the rebels. They will get beat. cool.gif

LOL, you might be right but Stuttgart must have improved since Christmas more than any school in the history of girls basketball. I think the 2-4A girl's might win 3 games but I don't figure that will be one of them.

Weatherman, Tell me your reasoning on the Pokey prediction. Do you really think they can compete with a team like Lonoke with all the quitting this week? As I said above, I would pick them to upset Lonoke if they were at full strength, but they obviously won't be at full strength. How many of their top 8 players will be suited up?

Pokeyfan- 02-19-2008
Pokey has some new "top players" now to help out the already strong Megan Flanigan and Alex Sheets. I think the girls can do well this week. The quitting of some I believe will make the team stronger and even more determined. Don't count this young squad out. They have 1 thing that all of the other girl's teams don't.....the element of surprise. No-one has watched these younger girls play yet cause they weren't playing sr. ball til now. The only people who've seen them play is the people they were beating on their way to a district championship!!!
Way to go ladies and best of luck in regionals!! nearsports/indian.jpg
