Wake me up when it starts...

Totally different class of volleyball being played in the Jonesboro area as compared to the rest of the state.

Rt. 64- 11-01-2007
The 4A looks pretty weak so far, except for Valley View and Westside.

after watching every single game up to this point....you are correct.
Valley View and Westside should have just got a free trip to Greenwood and saved
alot of gas for some schools.

btw......how bout the 2a school (Union Christian) that AAA got the numbers wrong and listed them as a 4a this year and they had to play V V...... nearsports/headbonk.gif

They actually played Westside. Some Westside 7th grade teams of the past could have likely beaten them. It was a sad situation, but at least Coach Patterson had enough class to play the bench and the team didn't use Fielder and Arnold all day on them; saving UCA from what could have been a few 25-0 type of games.

So............I know Westside won and assume Valley View won but can someone give any verification.

They did indeed.

Volleyball is not taken seriously except in the Jonesboro area in clasess 4A and down. IN 4a only 24 of the 48 schools even have volleyball teams. 3-A which is actually A-AA-AAA schools combined has several teams than play only a few games. Out of those schools only 21 of the 59 or 60 AAA schools play volleyball. There are 8 or 9 AA schools that play and a few class A schools. Three class AAAAA school's don't even have VB. The same goes for 6A where only 13 out of the 16 field teams.

Really?Have you witnessed volleyball in northwest Arkansas? They seem to take it pretty serious as well.Yes,several schools do not field volleyball teams, mostly schools in southern Arkansas.

3A schools like Lavaca,Mansfield, etc take volleyball very serious. They play larger schools and play more games than average. While I'll agree that the Jonesboro area takes volleyball more serious than most I think you would find,if you took the time, that central, and mainly northwest Arkansas are also strong supporters of volleyball.

I agree NWA also takes it serious. Central Arkansas doesn't as far as A,AA,AAA and AAAA schools are concerned. I hope all teams do well. Good luck to everyone this weekend.
