If you weren't at the competition then, don't be to quick to judge. I was there and BIC was awesome. They had only a minor bobble , Riverside dropped a girl right off the bat, but they did alright. BIC just has the talent! BIC won the Senior 2A Small Division and they also won the 2A Grand Championship Title, bringing it home for a second time. They also won the acedemic award for the Northeast quarter. Brannah Barrett also took home the ACCA Scholarship Award. The Junior squad was awesome too, they took 3rd place and the acedemic award for the Northeast quarter.

Did Newport do any good?

Northeast Arkansas took home 6 Grand Championships at the ACCA Competition.

2A - Buffalo Island Central

3A - Brookland

5A - Nettleton

6A - Jonesboro

Senior Stunt - Nettleton

Junior Stunt - Manila

Dana Gibson from Nettleton won NEArkansas Coach of the Year.

Kelsey Jackson from Jonesboro won the ACCA Scholarship for 6A.

Northeast Arkansas Dominated the Competition with several great performances.

It was a pleasure to announce the competition, and although some of our opinions are just that, opinions, the scores produced the winners and we are proud of everyone.

BIC had one major mistake but came through with the final score to win their 2nd title in 2 years. Parkers Chapel i believe was the 2nd place group and they also performed well so the scores had to be close. Brannah threw her full for the competition and that helped to show the BIC talent. Congratulations!

Brookland was outstanding! And to think, the Brookland administration almost didnt allow them to go! GRAND CHAMPIONS for the first time in school history!

Nettleton simple was the best. The talent in this group is amazing. Syncronization and sharpness along with elite tumbling and stunting skills combined for an outstanding performance that had the crowd in a frenzy.

Jonesboro showed off it's nationals routine with flair and energy. Making only one minor mistake, the entire routine flowed smoothly and almost seemed effortless. This is Jonesboro's 2nd Grand Championship in 3 years!

The Nettleton stunt routine was clean, crisp and sharp. Lauren Alkire was in complete control in the air and her bases, Tara Gary, Jordan Wicker and Dia Gibson (the only stunt group to perform without a front spot!) had complete control from beginning to end. Using some original stunt variations, the girls were perfect. Congratulations!

The Manila Junior stunt group also brought home a Grand Championship showing off many skills and transitions! I must say I am extremely pround of Alyssa Tate for becoming such a skilled flyer! She definitely shows where her stunt roots come from! Congratulations to this high flying Junior High Group!

Hope everyone is as proud of NEARkansas as I am!

i was there. not from the island so i can be bias. bic is far from awesome. Brannah Barrett is an amazing tumbler. one of the best ive ever seen. they only had three teams to compete against. personally, i think it was brannah's tumbling that did it for them. if bic competes in 3a like say manila, epc, brookland, and i know there are others, they win nothing. either one of those squads smoke bic. why did bic sr high not compete against these schools, because i know their jr high had to?

u forgot manila jr high brought a grand championship for stunt group comp.

Coach James - ACC- 02-04-2007
As far as the junior high divisions allowing boys, it is just set up that way. The junior high grand championship is new as of last year and due to time constraints etc, all junior high groups are lumped together regardless of if you have males or not. Maybe soon they will have a junior high co-ed considering there were a number of groups that had males in the junior divisions.

I must say that although NEA brought home 6 Grand Championships, there were many other NEA performances that were outstanding!

Paragould, GCT and Nettleton Junior High all showed how close the competition can be as each of these groups performed VERY well!

EPC place 4th in their division, the highest ever for an EPC group at Grand!

Bay with the 3rd place finish in their division was EARNED! They worked extremely hard to get to where they are and deserved the accolades. I know those kids have been through a lot, and they have become stronger for it!

Newport performed well! This group is young and their routine was full of energy.
Pocahontas Senior high made no major mistakes but just needs another year to build skills and watch out!

Riverside and Pocahontas Junior all made major mistakes at the beginning of their routines which made it hard for them to recover. I admire all of the their efforts as they stuck things out and worked hard to finish! Very proud of their efforts!

The junior high divisions are set up differently than the senior high. Remember, in these competitions, the junior highs will get lumped together to make more competition where in senior high, you are still bound by the rules set for your class division.

The arguement could be stated that the BIC basketball team would have not won a state title if they were in 4A/5A/6A etc, BUT that is how the divisions are set up and it's not the participants fault that they are in those divisions. All they can do is perform against the groups there and score the highest.
