I need a question answered, though I think I know the answer..........I just want to make sure I'm right. I did not open this topic to find out who got picked for All Conference or All Region.........I just would like an answer on how players get picked for these awards. So, here it goes........to the best of my knowledge. Which ain't a whole lot. Each team coach "picks" players to be voted on by the other coaches to recieve All Conferece AND All Regionals.............right?? Are there 4 spots given per each team??? Or 2?? Or??? I always noticed it being 4 All Conference and 4 All Regional awards. Is this correct?? And it is based on the "other" Coaches votes, not the team's own Coach? Is it also based on each players overall perfomance??? Performance in their Conference and Regionals?
I hope I did not open up a can of worms by asking these questions.........I just needed something cleared up for me and I knew I would get the answer here....one way or the other. Thanks.

i know you'll get the answers you need from 62 and scott. but what i do know there isnt a set amount of awards. the other night at Bay ,only 2 got all region and 4 got all conference.

To the best of my recollection, the coaches nominate members of their team and then coaches in the conference vote. The higher seeds in conference usually get to pick more than the teams with less wins. Lets just say that Westside and Highland will get more than say, Osceola.

And, if you tick the coach off, your name is dropped from consideration out of spite. Politics are alive and well in these settings.

The # of all conf varies depending on how the team finished. It is picked before the conf tourney, as is all state. These 2 are based on the whole season. any coach in the conf can nominate a player(even one not on their team) all coaches vote. All region is based on how many games a team wins in regional tourney, the winner gets to select the MVP. All state tourney team is based on performance IN state tourney. All teams get one selection...the more u win the more u get. MVP goes to someone on the winning team.

I don't know. She doesn't know either. She still hasn't gotten her award from last season.

they aren't supposed to til all teams in the conf are eliminated. So maybe they willannounce Monday.

we had our awards ceremony this past Thursday.

We don't have Athletic banquets either.

Just been told that no one from EPC got all conference. Coach didn't nominate anyone.

Hoxie's Jessica Barber was the only player from Hoxie who got all-conference. She also was awarded the offensive player of the year.

Kelsey Dobbs got all-conference honorable mention and the defensive player of the year for the Lady Mustangs.

Shayla Coats was awarded the most improved player for the 2008 Season.

Things were a bit slim for the Ladies in Green this season.

The coaches select the players that they believe are the most deserving, and generally they do a pretty good job. Every team is not necessarily represented on the all-conference team. If parents chose, the all-conference list would be quite long. Everyone can't get everthing.

The meeting was right after the EPC softball coaching fiasco. The new coach was asked if he had anyone to nominate, he said that he didn't know who did what all season. I wished she had never played school ball. Of all the horror stories I have heard about HS ball, I think this past season was the worst.
