who are the jr high boys teams and players to watch in 2008-2009 I know it's early but teams are already in camps and time to start talking trash nearsports/0c9b9f48.gif

big-n-ez- 06-11-2008
also who are some of best gonna be 8th graders that will help out their teams next year ( or 7th graders if applicable )

big-n-ez- 06-29-2008
I have seen some of the teams at camp now and here are a few that will stand out as I see it

Brent Davis- Brookland - this kid is a scorer just won't have much help this year.
Gunner Freeman- Bay- really well rounded player

COOL JACK- 07-04-2008
Bay should be a good contender to win the 1A3 Conf. this year. They have Gunner Freeman, Tristin Shelly, and what I like to call a sleeper Damien Holt returning this year. Everyone knows about Gunner and Tristin. I really feel that Holt will pick it up this year. He did well in camp against Jonesboro. Scored 20 plus in one game and double digits in the other 2. I think if he continues to pick it up that would a tremendous help to gunner allowing him to pick up even more points. As far as Shelly lol faster than lighting in your face defense will hinder alot of teams . So good luck Bay looking for a great year from yall. nearsports/buzz.GIF

I think Bay will defenitely benefit from playing in 1A. There are some slight differences in the classifications and I think Bay should be in good shape.

Brent Davis is playing up on the senior high team this year. And I agree he is a very good player. I don't know however on how you can comment on him not having much help when you havn't seen the 8th graders play. Our jr. high coach must think they are going to be awesome since he isn't going to bother to put them in any team camps or practice any this summer. sad.gif nearsports/0c4fae0e.gif The Joy of Brookland Basketball!!

I have seen the 8th graders play as 7th graders and unless they have really improved they will only help on limited bases but that is what the thread is about do they have any help coming in the eigth graders if so tell about it. I know they have the cupp kid and griggs is the other one I think but basketball really isn't cupps game is it and the griggs kid seemed to have attitude problems last year that probally won't fly with jr high refs

big-n-ez- 07-11-2008
speaking of 8th grade help there a couple I know about that are out there
Hoxie has the coaches kid zach crisler saw him play this summer he has really picked up his game should be a help don't know what they have in 9th grade
Greene County Tech has the Matheny twins who will team with older brother Garrett to anchor what looked to be a very good GCT team when I saw them at team camp.

cooldaddy- 07-12-2008
yeah i saw crisler at pokey and marmaduke teamcamps hes improved a ton from last year he was makin some sr. high kids look bad at marmaduke camp and i mean he did a great job last year running the jr. high team as a 7th grader with not much help this year he will have more help with 2 improved 9th graders and some young 8th graders they should have a tough confrence with rivercrest and earl but will be able to compete with the young crisler leading the way

Heard the Davis kid was going back to junior high. That should help the junior high out, but they will still struggle.

big-n-ez- 07-14-2008
that will good for brent he is a good kid and deserves to get his moment in the sun and will be a force in jr high. where are all the basketball junkies at I for one am bored this time of year and love to talk predictions and area teams and players come on guys and girls defend your teams and players, I can't believe BIC and others aren't talking basketball nearsports/0c4fae0e.gif

Pokeyfan- 07-14-2008
WBC is hosting their jr high boys team camp this week (mon-wed) and senior boys thur-sat. Pokey played CRA first thing this morning and won by a score of 27-15. Next they played Rector. Although Rector lost by a score of 28-20, they have really improved. Good hustlers. Pokey will square off against Westside on Tues. and then vs Weiner. You're off to a good start boys...keep it up!!! Good luck! Go Skins!! nearsports/indian.jpg
