WBC has won like 6 games this season and have played about 30 or more. They sucked last yr 2. Whats wrong with the baseball program there?

farmerjoe15- 04-30-2005
I started playing for them in the Fall of 02. I'm not a very good player, but kat-rash allowed me to be on the team. Coach works their butt off, but I would have to say he can't keep players. Guys really don't like paying 10K a year to have a 6-40 record. Yes, some guys do get alot of money to play, not many. School is so expensive that even if you do get 2k a semester (which would pay alot at ASU) you are expected to pay a ton. If you realize your paying 8k a year to practice 25hrs a week and still loose ball games, you quit. There is no time of a job. So kat-rash ends up starting out with 18 freshman and approx. 12 S, J, and seniors every year. Kid's parents have to have alot of money, or they are going to start life in major debt, just to play baseball. THIS IS WHY THEY STRUGGLE EVERY YEAR. This is all if you don't have other major scholarships to support you.

you hit the nail on the head it dosent matter how awesome the talent if you cant come up with the cheese your in trouble thats why its hard to keep a good team up but they play hard and do well with what they have

I played there from 98-01 and we were very talented my Fresh. and Soph. years. My freshman year we won 38 games. We had the Transouth player of the year and he was also 1st team All-American. The talent level was very high. This was not under Coach Katrosh, but my Sophomore year was under Katrosh and we were still very talented. I think the high school talent around NE Ark. has dropped off severly. My four years we never had a losing record, ever. Coach Katrosh is a great baseball mind, he really knows his stuff. But with JUCO's its hard for him to get good high school talent these days. He needs to hit the JUCO trail and hit it hard and dish out the money. I know they only have 8 full scholorships for baseball and he tries to divide it equally, but he is going to have to dish it out to get a couple of real good baseball players. But if there is any question about him knowing his stuff he definately know his stuff.

Hey well i can't answer why wbc isn't the best team around but i can say how great of a coach that coach katrosh is... That man knows alot about baseball ! I'm gonna be a freshman this fall and i practiced with the team in the spring and from the practice that i went through with them i don't see how they're not the best team around. The conference that they play in is very strict and tough just look at the teams they face and the numbers for them and you will find out how tough it is... I know that they're not the best but, some of them have an extreme amount of talent.. Just look at Stephen Abanathy he trained his butt off all the time !!! And he made the all-conference team... I know that Coach Katrosh doesn't have the best record and statistics around but he is a good coach. He just needs guys that are so dedicated to the sport that they would do anything!!!

farmerjoe15- 06-20-2005
Sucking up to Kat Rash on here will not get you playing time buddy!!!

We'll see how long your dedication lasts when you're playing for a team that is 2 and 33 (because Burke Webb is leaving) and $50,000 in debt!

How do you mention Stephen Freaking Abanathy and fail to mention the cornerstone of the team? Burke "Big Fingers" Webb! Trains his butt off? All he (Stephen) does is sit in his room and play video games!

By the way, easy on the "doing anything". We don't want to see you or Kat Rash in the same place the Ol' Marked Tree coach and players were!

Man what's your problem. I played with a GCT and with the loss of almost all of our seniors last year we had three at the beginning of the year. We lost one of my best friends because he couldn't keep the grades and when he couldn't play the teams heart and dedication was gone. I knwo what it feels like too loose. We won less than ten games and my dedication grew because i wanted to mak the team better and get it back to where it was. A winning or loosing record shouldn't make the players more or less dedicated it's teh dedication that this particular person has inside of them.

GctBaseball05- 06-22-2005
Oh Yeah and by the way i know who burke is and i know that he was a good player. He works with my dad !!! I just never got to meet or talk to burke while he was still playing, unlike stephen !!
