Still a 9th grader, yes, but you're wrong about it not mattering. One year's growth and maturity at that age is huge.
I question any Sr. High coach that has a superstar 9th grader and they don't move them up for the entire season, especially when they can help the Sr. team. And that looks to be the case with both the Madden and Smith kids. It does these type kids no good playing against kids they can dominate. If anything it helps create bad habits.

I agree they both should have been moved up. I cannot speak about EPC but Marion has a policy about not moving up 9th graders until their jr high career is over. This has been the case for as long as I can remember> I talked with a school administrator about this very thing around Christmas and he told me they are not ever going to do it as long as he is there.

It hasn't hurt Tevin to stay in jr high. He is a good well grounded kid. He will adjust to HS ball very quickly.

again for the 100th time.......If a kid is going on 17 and everyone else is just
turning 15........the 17 yoa should be better. Never said he was not a 9th grader.

C'mon you are beating a dead horse. It doesn't matter any more cause he is now on the sr high team. Your prayers have been answered.

And still the topic was Best 9th grader. Not the best 14 or 15 year old, but like hoops said your prayers have been answered.

My Freshman of the Year Tevin Smith of Marion had another solid performance at 6A East conference foe Sylvan Hills last night. He had 14 points, 6 rebounds, a couple of steals and most importantly 1 turnover in a Marion victory.

Just think...next year this shopmore that should be a junior will be even
better.......than the next season this junior that should be a senior will
be even better than before.......then when he is a senior and should
have already graduated.......he should own the season........ blink.gif

hoopswatcher- 02-22-2008
You are right he will probably own the season, and I am sure he is not the first nor the last player to be in this situation. I am sure it happens somewhere every year.

None the less he is a good player for a 9TH GRADER
