The AAA must not have considered the age difference a big deal orthey wouldnt have set it where they did. This will help Brookland in the long run because this is the best team by far they will play this season. If it doesn't effect them mentally it will definately be a help. I think this team could beat many of the lower classification high school teams they are unbelievably talented and have a great coach.

Speaking of competition...
If the kid is this good, then why in the world would the coaches not move him up to the Sr. high team. Not a smart move in my opinion. Especially with the age issue, he needs to be playing at the highest level available to him. Playing Jr. high ball won't help him a bit.

I asked the same question myself and the response I got was the Sr team doesnt need him just yet and a player was moved up before and had adverse affects on him. He had a couple bad games and it killed his confidence and was never the same. If you see this team practice, he gets plenty of comp in practice. After Christmas may be a different story though.

That is the answer I got

actually i was going to meation this early about him still being in jr. I saw their SR high team.....They dont need him. Wouldnt that be nice problem to have.

hoopswatcher- 11-14-2007
I hope theydon't need him but I think they will. any team can use a player as good as he is. If he keeps improving could be a top 2 or 3 player in state. He can flatout play.

good luck bbballdad- it will be tough going againest Marion butit will help prepare them for conference time

Obviously he's had issues in school if he's 16 in 9th grade. It doesn't matter how good he is if he can't cut it in the classroom.

basketballdad- 11-15-2007
I am sure it so....other wise he would be playing SR ball.

hoopswatcher- 11-15-2007
I asked that same question today and again the answer I got was his parents held him back in the second grade due to missing class due to an illness(pnemonia). I wastold he was a B student and had no problems in the classroom. Anyway that is the story and they are sticking to it. That cming from a school official that I know.

basketballdad- 11-15-2007
Just the difference he needs to be the best 9th grader around.

Some parents hold their kids back or start them a year late for that very reason, so they will be more mature and hopefully better.

I am going to add Tevin Smith from Marion. He is in my opinion the best 9th grader in NEA. Marion may be alittle far south for most of you posters and I know they are a 6a school but this kid can flat out play. He is about 6'2 and can do it all. Brookland fans should agree. He is the kid that had the 3 dunks and 23 points in their matchup, in which Marion won by almost 30(which they should). He is the best player on what should be the best junior high team in NEA if not the entire state. They are big(6'3,6'3 and 6'2 front line and the guards are quick. They pressuere all over court and are good in transition. A very talented group

I second this.

Garrett Scott from Manila is 6'5 and has been doin pretty good so far this season. I think he is one of the better 9th graders in this area. nearsports/clap.gif

He is not even the best 9th grader on his team therefore can't be considered the best 9th grader in the area sorry.
