Garrett Scott from Manila is 6'5 and has been doin pretty good so far this season. I think he is one of the better 9th graders in this area. nearsports/clap.gif

He is not even the best 9th grader on his team therefore can't be considered the best 9th grader in the area sorry.

I won't go into the best player thing but the 9th grader that is having the grea-*test*-('") impact is definitely Hunter Mickelson. He is posting double doubles and even some triple doubles against Sr high competition.

I am going to add Tevin Smith from Marion.  He is in my opinion the best 9th grader in NEA. Marion may be alittle far south for most of you posters and I know they are a 6a school but this kid can flat out play.  He is about 6'2 and can do it all.  Brookland fans should agree. He is the kid that had the 3 dunks and 23 points in their matchup, in which Marion won by almost 30(which they should). He is the best player on what should be the best junior high team in NEA if not the entire state. They are big(6'3,6'3 and 6'2 front line  and the guards are quick. They  pressuere all over court and are good in transition.  A very talented group

I second this.

Jaylin Smith from Hughes is definetely the best 9th grader in the state. There is a reason that Hughes Jr. Boys are 15-0 and he is one of the main reasons. I suspect he had a good game when they beat Marion. There's not many schools, let alone 3A schools that will beat Marion, so that must say something for Smith and the Jr. Blue Imps.

basketballdad- 12-30-2007
Has Hughes played anyone away from thier school and their refs......? nearsports/0c4fae0e.gif \

BTW..has anyone found out if them guys are even certified. I know it is always
the same 3 when you go there.

and Smith cant touch Curtis Branch (Nettleton). I have seen them
both play and Branch is the real deal.

Nice try...Hughes beat Marion away from Hughes.. Has Nettleton played Marion yet?

What three guys are talking about? Smith, Wilson, and Doolittle or Smith, Wilson, and Montgomery....these guys are a special group and I am looking forward to them playing the Manila Jr. Boys again.

Smith is the real deal....you will hear about him more each year.

Loves the best ninth grader around here, no questions asked. But i think that if anderson would step his game up a lil then he might take it

kam would take jake to school!!! as tha saying goes kam would be bus driver and he would take love to school!!!

ki madden is would take kam to school

sportsfreak69- 01-03-2008
Yep Ky Madden is the best 9th grader around. Kam may take Love to school but you got to think Kam is supposed to be in 10th grade. So he is older than Love so he might take him to school

basketballdad- 01-03-2008
Madden is good..but not the best. Once again, the best 9th grader around
the NEA is Branch (nett). Branch walked all over Madden when they played
in the Nett tourney.

LMBH- 01-03-2008
Even though Mickelson (Westside) is on the Sr. High team, does he not qualify as a 9th grader? I'd say he is the best.

hoopswatcher- 01-03-2008
I still say Tevin Smith at Marion is the best. I have seen EVERYONE play that has been mentioned and I would talke Smith over all of them. Second is the kid from Nettleton then point gaurd at Hughes. Fourth, I would take the guard from West Memphis Wonder, cant remember his name, then Madden from EPC-may have the worst attitude of any of the players mentioned.

Why I am I not surprisede to hear this from you. The thread states best 9th grader. Tevin turned 16 on Dec17. This I have verified so at best he may be 6-8 months older but nonetheless he is a 9th grader and there is no arguing that FACT.

Once again you have proven that if your opinion is not shared by everyone, you find some assinine reason to rip someone(ie coach or ref). In this case a 9th grader.

You ruin all credibility you may have by constantly finding reasons to bash someone. nearsports/0c9b9f48.gif

Have you ever posted anything positive? In any subject, if so please link me to it so I can see it myself.

Far as i can tell you are the only one that has mention Smith..... dry.gif

where did that last post bash anyone? I said for HIS age. Thats not bashing...thats
a fact. Now, if you want to compare a 14 yoa to a 16 yoa, then no he is not better.
Read my post as they are. They are never misleading. Saying Branch is the best around is positive. I have no interest in that statement.

In basketball, i assure you i have creadibility.

most 9th grader are just now turning 15...alot are still 14.

hoopswatcher- 01-04-2008
Then a thread for best 14 yr old needs to be started. Not best 9th grader. I am not disputing the fact that he is older, just stating he is the best 9th grader. It doesn't matter to me in this case whether he is 14, 16 or 48, he is still a 9th grader and legal to play in jr high basketball by current state and federation rules. nearsports/th_41616-4.gif Therefore in my opinion he is the best 9th grader.

Rebel04- 01-04-2008
the best 9th grader is at WESTSIDE
