Tim Porter and Ricky Poe should both be mentioned.....Tim was an unbelievable basketball player, and i've heard it from more than one that he could've made it to the NBA had it not been for some trouble in college.....Ricky Poe was just an athlete....basketball, baseball, he could do it all.....if I'm not mistaken, he played pro baseball in the New York Mets organization....made it to AAA there too.....I think the story is that while he was there, it was either him, or another player that was going to get called up and the other one got called......the other one was Darryl Strawberry.....they are both from Marmaduke by the way

Best Athlete ever in greene county. I am going to go out on a limb here and say it was someone who come to town from somewhere else to play Tech or Paragould.

Gary Washington who graduated from Paragould in 1963. Was offered a scholarship by John Wooden at UCLA, but he wanted to play baseball also. Wooden didn't allow 2 sport players. He went to Miss State instead. He made it to AAA with the Yankees. He could have played with Kareem and won 3 Natl Titles.
