The same thing happened in Manila. Yesterday the price was 3.59. This morning around 9-9:30 is was 3.89, and a hour later it was 4.29. There were more people buying gas at 4.29 than at any point. Some people are not very smart. nearsports/headbonk.gif nearsports/headbonk.gif nearsports/th_41616-4.gif Chances are it will be back down significantly by Monday. By the way, on the market in New York, where gas is trade like all commodities, it went up 12 cents yesterday and was actually down 3 cents today. It closed at 2.74. I just hope the Attorney General will stick to his guns and fine these folks.

How much are you really gonna save sitting at a gas station for 30-45 minutes ? Your gonna waste what your gonna save just sitting there ! I don't care if you are on empty if you buy 20 gallons of gas and save .15 cents a gallon, you have burned up what you saved just waiting on it !!!! Come on people. blink.gif

Just got this through a consumer alert for the AR AG's office...

MCDANIEL ASKS FOR ARKANSANS HELP

Email or Text Pictures of Price Gouging

LITTLE ROCK– Hurricane Ike is approaching the Texas coastline today, and threatening both oil refinery capacity and gasoline supply lines into Arkansas. As a result both rumors and accurate accounts of gas price increases are flooding the Attorney General’s office.

Today, Attorney General Dustin McDaniel asks Arkansans to send his office documentation of price gouging if they see it in their hometown. The office has received numerous calls and emails in the past 24 hours from citizens who are concerned about a sudden hike in the price of gas at the pump.

McDaniel encourages citizens to use their cell phone cameras and document evidence of what they believe to be price gouging and email it to gas@arkansasag.gov, text a picture to 501-539-0969, or they can call 800-482-8982

Griggs is a little gas station on Park Street in Pocahontas. THey have one row of pumps. They ran out on all pumps after staying at 3.59 a gallon all day. They did not raise their prices. I will be buying all my gas from them in the future.

Murphy Oil can stick it as far as I'm concerned. I saw two tankers in pocahontas today at murphy. I will not ever buy from them. They sell the same gas in Pokey as they do in Jonesboro for usually 15-20 cents more here.

A co-op employee has been saying they were told to slowly raise the price and hit it with $5.00/gal on Monday. The reason people are saying we will run out is not just rumor. Due to Ike it will be a "few weeks" according to officials interviewed on the news before they can even properly assess the refinery/rigs. Therefore nothing will be coming from Texas for a while. It provides 25% of our oil and is the sole provider to many Arkansas stations. National news has even said Arkansas could be in trouble. But, I agree that the stations were taking advantage of us. Why didn't they just leave the prices normal and sell at a normal pace so they don't run out so soon? As far as Murphy, everybody raised the prices a little... and I try to buy from them because none of their oil comes from the middle east.
