back off topic for a sec.........I wish i had repeated first grade. Would love to have had that extra year in high school so i could have put some more hardware in the ole trophy case and broke another state record or two.
We all delight in debating with an Internet TROLL.

How can you say Camden was loaded then there Missco? You even watched them? Wow!
Oh and thanks for the props of being the All Knowing one around here! I have seen a few others that know a thing or 2 as well, so I definitely don't feel like the all knowing one.
As long as John Woodens and Bobby Knights still exist I can't be the all knowing one.
BACK to the topic here Missco...
The first part of Yaz's statement is what is in question here, right? The rest of it really can't be disputed unless you really just want to be pow driven right here on this forum topic.
|
What's pow driven? Are you 7 or 70?
YAZ, you are needed at the girls softball field......someone left the lights on.
NOW, back to topic....
well let's see here...way back in the days of the Von Eric family there was this wrestling move called the pile driver(for u taz). Some people use it now days as a name for a mixed drink that contains vodka and prune juice. I was using the former use of the word that meant someone would pick you up over their head and slam you down really hard. Pile Driven(for u taz) is what its called if it happens or has happened to you.
Is that clear enough? Feel like I am writing to a 7 yr old that's for sure. Try dividing 70 by 2 and that is just about right.
Back to the topic now... is successful the part that is in question about your initial statement?

They don't have lights there but I wouldn't expect someone with your intelligence to notice.

You my friend have not watched Camden play basketball have you?
Gathen is not a football coach. Camden was loaded in football. Camden doesn't come to NE AR to play so maybe you haven't watched them.
He did, and still has those same problems. That is what led him out of a job in Camden. Gathens life was a living heck in Camden. He never was able to be affective with motivating kids, never got organized or settled in, and I don't know anything about his practices. I am not going to get into any of those issues, but they haven't disappeared and you brought him back to Osceola.
You guys better lock the gate to the city behind him when he drives in, cause trouble may be coming with him!
For all of you who want to ride a horse, this is a site that only intales impersonal communication. What a person says can be taken a million different ways if you just love to hop on and ride it. I was not saying that Gathen wasn't a good coach. I still haven't seen the quote that shows I said that about Taylor. The point I was making about Gathen in that sentence was aimed at a statement that said that basketball is basketball and it's the same everywhere you go. The same Gathen that loaded up his hand with championship rings in Osceola went down South and tried the same system and it wasn't affective. THAT is a true statement.
The fact that Misco chimed in is hilarious! |
I have watched Camden play a couple of times since Coach took over. I watched him run practice, in Trumann, last season before the loss to Greene County Tech. When I played for the man he was a great coach. He may not be an X's and O's guru and he may not be the most personable person to ever roam a sideline, but he is a great motivator and a leader.
You can't discredit everything the man has done just because of one bad season at Camden. (I said one because his first year he had the Cardinals in the state tournament, and ask any coach that's a successful season.) Every team has a bad season and with Coach Gathen it's magnified because of his previous success and the money Camden paid him, but the man knows his stuff and does a great job with young men.
There are plenty of coaches out there that would love to have a State Championship ring, for each ring finger, and a state runner up banner to hang in their gym. The man has been a success coaching in the state of Arkansas.
I agree. I would like to know what BearBaits record is?

He will be successful at Springdale because he is driven and he knows how to coach the game of basketball.' Nuff said.

THIS remains to be seen......

1st year on job he vastly improved the fortunes that basketball program.Just sit back and watch he will be dominating 7a in Springdale soon!

and Patrick Ewing never won a NBA championship, but he was inducted into the Hall of Fame this year.
Buster Campbell hasn't won one either, but he has a record to show that he can stick it out even in the tough years. He doesn't run when the talent turns south. Bob was a great coach. I have seen coaches that weren't that good win state championships just because they were so unbelievably loaded with talent. Look at Osceola's old coach. He couldn't win crap to save his life when he went to South AR, but hey Basketball is Basketball right. |

Just stating the obvious Carmaduke. Taylor is one of the best coaches that NEA has ever had the privilege of seeing Coach Basketball

I think you misunderstood me. I ment the lack of great talent was a one reason White never one a state title. The one thing I have always said about Coach White is he could take a team with little or average talent and win 20-25 ballgames, but a team with alot of good talent he didn't improve that much. Probably has alot to do with his style of play. We went 31-3 in 1996 and lost the first game of regional tournament. |
I never really thought about it before, but your right.I would say 90% of his time at Manila he should have had below 500 season. The teams people thought would finish in the bottom some how made it to regionals, and the teams people thought might go all the way never seem to make it.
I agree White was as good as anyone going by the years he had ZERO talent, and some how getting 500 out of them. I don't know much about Taylor, but his second title he didnt have a star filled roster.I know his son was well above average, but the other four guys where just well coached.I'am sure he didn't leave because the team wasn't good anymore.I'am sure the guy planned on leaving the area once his son was out of school.
I would have never guessed the 1996 team only lost 3 games. That was far from Whites best team. So you'd have to give him credit for that record. If iam guessing the starters where Wes,Jared,Brain,Kary,Eric,is that right? Wes and Brain where a step above average, not comparable to Wells,or Copeland of the 90-91 team, which was by far Whites best chance at a title.
Sorry i didnt stay 100% on topic about Taylor,I wanted to respond about the White comments.
Wes, Brian, Eric, and Kary started most of the time. Jared, Woody, and Chris filled the other spot according to matchups and who had made coach mad that week.
Coach Taylor's Springdale team will be in Jonesboro Thursday night playing Nettleton in the Hurricane Classic at 8:30.
