BROOKHAVEN PULLS AWAY FROM CROWLEY’S RIDGE

PARAGOULD, AR – Brookhaven College brought their full court pressing defense and fast pace style of play to Crowley’s Ridge College and took away a hard fought 110-89 win.

Crowley’s Ridge trailed by 16 points at the half with the score 56-40 and battled their way back to cut the lead to 10 points late in the second half. The Pioneers however had three straight turnovers that Brookhaven turned into seven points and extended their lead to 17. Crowley’s Ridge could not overcome the late deficit.

Justin Ward led the Pioneers with 16 points, and Corey Fleming added 15 points on the afternoon. TeWayne Smith added 13 points and Jamar Horton tossed in 12 points.

“Brookhaven has a very good team,” said Pioneers Head Coach Chris Perkins. “We will not see a full court trap press that is that effective from any other team on our schedule. We handled the pressure very well. We rebounded well today also. Our defensive transition was not anywhere close to what it should be. We have some work to do.”

“When you score 89 points against a team like that you have accomplished something. But we can not give up 110 points,” said Perkins.

The Pioneers return to action on Tuesday as they play host to Champion Baptist College at 7:00 at Crowley’s Ridge College.

Can Crowley's Ridge not find refs who know the game?
In three home games, the refs have been very bad!!!
Last Monday and on Saturday the calls were very off balance.
Are these guys not college certified officials??

Brookhaven was a very good team and it would have been tough for the Pioneers to win, in my opinion. They were quick and the press was very tough. CRC handled the press and played very well, but they got no breaks from the three blind mice in black and white shrirts.

The Brookhaven Coach was yelling and going crazy one time and nothing was said to him. Then a Brookhaven player throws an elbow at a CRC player after the play and the CRC player, who was walking away, gets the technical foul. Another play a Brookhaven player is standing out of bounds in front of CRC's bench and they gave the ball back to Brookhaven because the refs "DIDN'T SEE IT".

Keep playing hard guys, it is tough to win 8 on 5 at home. Maybe some road games will help.
