If the weather holds, the family and I are going camping at Lake Norfork Friday & Saturday night. If you are in that area, be on the lookout for the NEARsportage! Come by and say howdy!

What campground do you go to @ Norfork?

I have never camped there before. We were gonna get over there and scope it out.

However....doesn't look like it's gonna happen this weekend. Bad weather moving in.

The weather looks like it may let us go!

I have heard really good things about this spot.

Any input?

I have been there; but never actually camped there. It looks like a nice campground. I'm not sure when Corp of Engineer open their campsites. If you go there and they are not open, go back to Henderson. Wilderness Point campground- the top part is privately owned and you should be able to stay there.

Most of the time I take my family to Cranfeild (also Corp of Engineers)It's a nice place too!

Have Fun! mdr.gif

We only camped at Norfork Friday night. The lake was way down and the fishing was horrible.

Saturday we went to Sylamore Creek just outside Mountain View. We caught so many fish we were giving them away! We had a great time! We will be going back the weekend after Easter.

Sylamore is wonderful. I've been there before. Went trout fishing!

It was great up there. If you like trout or bass you can easily catch your limit. Grim had never been camping on any of the waterways in NEA. I think he is hooked on Sylamore and White River now.

There are so many family oriented activities around that area. We are planning on taking all the kids to Blanchard Springs Caverns and Gunner Pool this summer when it gets warmer. Those places hold a lot of childhood memories for my sisters and me. It's even better now than it was back then since most campsites have real restrooms and hot showers. I love letting the kids play outside in the sunshine all day fishing or hiking, whatever they want to do, then everyone getting a hot shower and sitting around the campfire talking and eating s'mores before going to bed in the great outdoors.

I love the Mountain View area. As you know on Saturday night you can go to the square and hear some of the best bluegrass picking there is.

I like Robinson Point as far as the lake goes. When I visit Mom in Mountain Home I always hike out to the bluffs for a picnic. Trailhead is just outside the gate. Trail winds right along the shore at one point so if you're hot you can jump right in.

Also, Mountain Home is right down the street if you get bored or hot and want to catch a movie or something.
