i know this is a few months late, but why are you just now starting to practice in feburary. valley view never quits. they take a couple of weeks off after state and then go right back into offseason. they practice as hard, if not harder, during the winter months than they do during the season.

When you have talent like Ballard and Myers and Lovell, well you might win a game.

Is their any truth to the roomer that Cedar Ridge isn't going to have a Varsity team in the 07 season? nearsports/0c4fae0e.gif

It takes time to develop a program. It takes time to develop the athletes you need. Volleyball is not a sport you can just field a team, and expect to win. It will probably take around six or seven years of hard work for Cedar Ridge to produce a competitive team. It will probably the current 7th graders that develop into a winning team.

It just takes time, and support.

And, that's what it takes to be competitive. It took GCT six years to get over the hump, and it shows. But, there's lots more work to be done.

Ballard I know. Lovell I know. But, who is Myers? Or do you mean Micah?

I remember when Brookland only won a few games. It all started when the 07 seniors were in junior high. It take a lot of time determination and heart to become a winning team.

It also helped by not being in the same conference with Westside and Valley View anymore. Not talking bad about Brookland, but they were able to win a state championship after the other 2 had to move up.

Yeah but Lavaca who Brookland played in the finals were pretty tough.

They weren't in same conference because they are a smaller school. That's how it works.

Uh, yes they were. Westside and Valley View were in the 3AAA conference with Brookland until 2 years ago when they were moved to 4AAA. Even as good as Brookland is at Volleyball it was just too tough having to play the other 2 for the state title. The very 1st year when Westside and VV left the 3AAA, Brookland was able to win the state title.
