I need advice on which is the best competitive cheerleading location and at what age you suggest someone starts taking classes.

THANKS!!

If by best cheerleading location you mean which cheerleading gym...then Cheers Unlimited in Jonesboro is a suggestion. And on the terms of age, you can start at any time as long as you are old enough(depending on what ages the gym offers classes to) and as long as you are not too old.

Is 3 1/2 too young to start?

There are two gyms that are advertisers here at NEARsports. They are the ONLY gyms that are endorsed by NEARsports.

Any post about any other gym will be deleted, UNLESS that gym becomes a NEARsports advertiser.

That is all.

Sorry! I am new to this and didn't realize.

The gym that was suggested to you is one of the two I spoke of.

Carry on.

CU is one of the gyms but i guess cuz they are good like that smile.gif but you can go to a website of a gym that is suggested to you and check out classes that they have to see possibly what the age limits are.

There are a number of gyms out there that support tumbling of all ages. Usually the age range is 3 1/2 to 4 years old depending on maturity level or being able to comprehend the given instructions and process.

Basically, in NEArkansas there are 3 gyms and you need to explore each one and see what best fits your schedule and preference in coaching and staff.

Once you make your choice, make sure to give at least 3 to 6 months of classes to judge the progress of the child. All things take time, including tumbling. Don't let anyone "guarantee" you that they will get your child a backhandspring. Any good coach knows that it takes time to learn tumbling and to guarantee a backhandspring or a backhandspring in a set amount of time is a ploy to get your business.

Go into looking for a tumble gym with the idea of what you want ahead of time. Research the business and make your choices based on what you as a parent feel comfortable with.

Well put, Coach James. I completely agree with you! As far as my opinions are concerned on this issue, both gyms have produced great tumblers as well as cheerleaders. I can personally at-*test*-('") to the fact that the Arkansas Cheer Company has produced the RESULTS necessary to be called a very successful gym. Not only do they provide honest, friendly, high-quality service to their customers, but they have produced state and national champions, "staffers" for the largest cheer organization in the world, and collegiate cheerleaders for highly-respected programs. Being a "graduate" of the ACC Storm All-Star program, I have experienced many of these results and great service and completely understand that, if it weren't for that gym, I wouldn't be on staff or cheering for one of the better college cheer programs in the country.
