Unlike basketball and football it is easy for a good season in other sports to go unnoticed. Over the past two years CRA has won two soccer conference championships playing in the 4A. In North East Arkansas and probably Arkansas in general soccer does not get a lot of attention. Winning two conference championships is pretty impressive and what makes it even more impressive is how small of a school we are. I would assume that most soccer teams around the state have a team of about 20 to 25 players. This is appoximately a third of our high school.
We are technically a 1A school that thanks to the multiplier had to move up to 2A. This is understandable based on the major recruiting efforts we employ throughout the world for atheletes. We have a staff of over 100 people for recruiting sports stars. Our basketball team that made it to the state semifinals last year, well if you didn't know every single one of the starters, except two, was at CRA their kindergarten year. Our recruiting efforts start once they leave the womb. The other two came to CRA when their parents came to work there (High School Principal and Basketball Coach).
I don't have the time to do the research but I would assume right off hand we are the smallest soccer school in the state. I could be wrong but I can't be way off. We may even be the only 2A school with a soccer team in the entire state. I would doubt that but it could be. In soccer the past two years we have competed in the 4A and I as I have already mentioned we won two conference championships (going undefeated in conference in both years) and made it to the state semifinals last year and the quarters this year. Those two teams really deserve a lot of credit. Winning two conference titles and making it that far in state is good at any level especially when you are competing at a level 4 times higher than where you should be. A lot of credit goes to Coach Morris too.
Finally, I do make some jokes about the multiplier rule but I think it is a good rule. I more than understand the need for it. I just like to have some fun with it every once in a while. Mainly I wanted the efforts of our soccer team to be noted. They have really put a lot of hard work in over these past two years.
