Lacy is hurt and the season according to some is now ruined. While I agree Lacy Stayton is a great player, she is just that...only one player. I don’t claim to be an expert on a whole lot of things and I include softball as one of them. But, over the years I played softball, and the years I have watched softball being played by others, I have yet to see only one player on a team. Any successful team has more than one key player who is called on for that team’s success. Bay is no different.
Some from Bay may think your best opportunity has passed you by, but the season is a long way from being over. Losing only two games thus far can be attributed to the pitching skills of Lacy Stayton but those no-namers who back her up have had a part in this as well. Bay’s pitching may suffer some through the remainder of the season, but the other eight girls who would have normally played anyway should not be affected. Bay still has the opportunity to produce offense with their bats.
I want it to be known without a doubt I am personally pulling for the Yellow-Jackets and wish all of them nothing but the best. Get well soon Lacy!!!!!

YES the other girls are going to have to HIT the ball ...SCORE... and play GREAT defense,

there is still hope....This weekend will be a good step in that direction to see how they can play and are going to play in future games....GO LADY JACKETS

from Kim and I, we thank you... I believe the rest of the girls would thank you as well
I agree to some degree. And, if it was anyone other than their #1 (dominant) pitcher, I would agree totally. Losing a pitcher of her caliber will have a tremendous impact on the team's future success. Realistically...they are average now. Lacy put them in the upper echelon of AA teams. I really hope Bay manages to pull it together.
When I heard the news today, I was surprised and shocked. Despite our past rivalries, I really hope that Lacy gets through this and gets back on the playing field. She's a great kid and my prayers are for a speedy recovery.

If they're average and they're more/less on the same level as everyone else in the 2A, that should give them just as good of a shot as anyone else, right?
Time to bow-up Yellow Jackets...show 'um what you're made of
It was ignorant. Plain and simple. Not saying Bay can't bow up and play, but the coach just made it a whole lot harder to do.

While I agree totally, the damage has been done and it ladies will have to regroup and go forward. More than one parent from Bay has told me, "this was Bay's year" I sympathize with the parents and players for being dealt this horrible hand.
The fact of the matter is, teamwork and determination will get Bay through this situation...just like it has so many times in the recent past. Determination is what got them to the level of playing they enjoyed had last year in softball. Determination and "stick-to-it-ness" is what carried the Yellow-Jackets through a season of volleyball with virtually no coach at all. Yes, Bay has a high hurtle to cross with the loss of Lacy. However the ability to get them where they are now didn't come because of things simply falling into place, or things being given to them. They've continued to work through good and bad times. The Yellow-Jackets need to concentrate on the the reasons that will enable them to win, not dwell on negativity and simply looks for excuses to lose.

It is a no brainer. More hits off a slower pitcher equals more runs scored. Eventually those extra hits are going to find holes in the defense. I ain't taking nothing from Lauren but she doesn't have the speed Lacy has and she is more hittable.

okay i see that but again i ask what the coach did to make it harder? are you implying that he wanted lacy hurt? i dont understand. and also by using a double negative in your second sentence, you did take something from lauren.

No I am sure the coach didn't mean to hurt her but it just shows ignorance on his part. They courtesy run for her in the games to keep her from sliding and getting hurt, so once again, why have her sliding in practice? As for Lauren, she is a good kid and I like her and she pitches fine but it is not as fast as Lacy. Neither is my daughter. As for the double negative comment, I am not impressed.

so you're all for treating a single player different than the rest of the team?
She still could have RUN , i think she asked to run poles... BUT in a game you don't ever have the pitcher slide so WHY take the chance.. YES any one could get hurt in a game or practice. BUT i think we are all saying that IF you NEVER have her run bases then WHY have her do sliding drills.
BUT ALL the other girls are going to have to step up thier game....

Make her do something else that the rest of the team don't have to.
