Full Version : Durant

I think that he will go to the big time after this season.
Sigma_Chi_04- 03-19-2007
I dont think there is a doubt in anybody's mind that he will go. The real question is whether he will be the 1st or 2nd pick. The consensus is that he will go #2 behind Oden. This should be an amazing draft class as far as college talent goes.
weeman- 03-19-2007
I guess the guys at ESPN aren't always right (NIT for example) but they were talking about Durant going first overall and Oden going 2nd and there was no way that Oden would be number one.
Sigma_Chi_04- 03-19-2007
yea I think it's anybody's guess. I have heard several different things. Just a couple weeks ago i read on espn.com where they had Oden going 1 overall, then turn around and on espn radio they were hyping up durant. They dont know...nobody knows. It just depends on the team with the number 1 pick. The argument against him is that talented 6'9 combo guards seem to be a dime a dozen in the NBA while true 7' centers like Oden are as rare as cotton in a rice field.

I will be worth significant money to Durant to go first. If Oden comes out, Durant will be better off to stay a year.

i agree.......6 7" guards (wow) are a dime a dozen...but its hard to come
across that true big man that has it all. I think Oden needs some more prep
time. He should stay. But as Ricky Bobby would say.......LOVE THAT MONEY!

i dont think either one of them will be a number one pick, there is gonna be some foreign kid who comes in and everyone is gonna think he is zeus, then they will draft him first round pick and he will xxxx. Durant is the best player in college ball, he should go and he should be number 1, hes got it all. HES GOT IT ALL
Sigma_Chi_04- 03-19-2007
I bet they will. I havent heard this much hype about college players since the current influx of foreign talent. Maybe these "brilliant" NBA General Managers have gotten smart and realized that an 21 year old American guard is just as good as a 21 year old Croatian guard. Honestly how many of these players have been busts in the NBA? I havent heard any buzz about any of the foreign players this year.

Durant is more NBA-ready, and man is he going to be good. He reminds me alot of Tracy McGrady but Oden is one of those rare cant-miss 7 footers. I'm not talking about Michael Olowakandi status either. This guy will be good in a couple years.

I agree that Durant is a total player you were making a good argument but then you said that there will be some foreign kid will go number one.
weeman- 03-20-2007
I think that if a team is looking for a power center they will take Oden before anyone.

They will both leave, and will go 1 and 2. Oden will probably go #1 because franchise centers are so hard to find. Durant is the best freshman to come along in a long time, but how many championships have T-Mac and Kevin Garnett won compared to Shaq? It all starts in the middle. I would take Oden.

How many did Micheal Jordan win compared to Shaq ? You don't have to have a great center to get a ring in the N.B.A.
Oden will never be close to being a Shaq, or Duncan for that matter. It just depends on the team, who I would take. Different teams have Diff. needs.

I dont agree with you there. I dont remember too well but it would be hard for me to imagine Shaq doing any better than Oden has as an 18 year old kid. Oden could potentially be on Shaq's level one of these days. He isn't done growing, neither in size nor skill.

You don't agree with me ? What is wrong with you? You can't disagree with The Weatherman. You should know that by now. I have proved you wrong enough.
Only time will tell if he will be that good. I just don't see it.
