Hey i don' know if there are too many people that pay attention to the pitchers at WBC but has anyone seen two of their new freshmen pitchers. Cheyne Weir of Paragould (GCT) & Ty Jones of Bono (Westside). They both looked pretty good for being freshmen! Cheyne pitched the first game against lyon and heald them to 1 run in 5 innings and only 4 hits! Then Ty came in and tried to get the save but had some troubles because he was sick but he still looked good! I think these two will be giving their conference something to talk about before they leave! If they work hard at it they could both see alot fo Varsity action this year & definately see alot next year clap.gif clap.gif clap.gif

Everyone that's read what i wrote on the first post will understand what i'm saying a little more ! atleast about one fo these kids. Cheyne Weir pitched 8 innings ( 100 pitches even ) against harding the other day and got his first collegiate win. He struggled early with the lead off batter & a few other but then shut harding down for the most part. Killing any chance of a rally they had. They did tie up with WBC and go into extras but in the eighth Weir struck out the side. Then Cody Nelson hit a bases loaded triple to give teh eagles & Weir his first victory...
I congradulate not only Cheyne on his heart in this game and not ever giving up but the coaching adn players who rallied behind their pitcher to give him his first W !!!! clap.gif clap.gif clap.gif clap.gif clap.gif

I umpire around the area and I don't remember a Weir kid from GCT. By the way that was not the eagle's first win. The game was a junior varsity game. You shouldn't pad your stats with jv games. I umpired the games against mid-continent and that is what i do beleive to be the eagle's first win. But who's counting 07388820.gif Mr. Weir, if I could give you a pointer or two. Until you get your fastball to a decent velocity, and a curveball that doesn't hit people when it forgets to curve, you might want to focus on the bottom of the strike zone and hitting spots so that no more leadoff's take you into the trees when you miss a spot. I do feel kind of bad for the pitcher in the second game because they hit the ball hard all day and in your game they just happen to hit it hard right at your teammates. The eagle's bats didn't help the other pitcher much in the second game either. So before you get a head the size of a beach ball know that there are many things that you and the rest of your squad need to work on before becoming the complete package. By the way don't make excuses for the Jones kid either, if he was sick it was his problem, but he was well enough to play. The fielders must make plays behind the pitcher for anybody to be effective. shoot.gif

Well i'm not sure which umpire you are but i could care less what you think about me or anyone else on the team !!! How bout you just let us play the way we want ok !!! so just stay behind the plate and quit trying to tick people off it's kinda retarted considering all of our umps are about 30 and you're acting kinda childish to be one of them !!! & if you want me to say something about your umpiring just let me know cause i know some guys in pee wee leagues that would love to take your spot cause i know they can atleast find the strikezone !!!

Oh yeah one more thing !!! ty was really sick that day !!! if you only could've seen what he was hacking up in teh dugout !!! he could barely stay awake he was so out of it !!! so no he really wasn't good enough to play cause a few ppl talked to our coach about letting ty sit cause he was so sick so get your facts right !!! k

Shane Weir your goofy. Keep working hard, the J.V. squad will always have a spot for you. Your teammates make fun of you. Good guy, just can't play dead in a Western. Sorry, just seen you play.
