| None of the teams they have played are very competitive this year... Mountain Home is down big time, EPC has the best player in the state out and Pulaski Academy is extremly non competitive.... |
When the Lady Eagles best EPC, Madden was in the game and was a non-factor. She broke her hand in a game against PA last Saturday. Mtn Home will always be competetive. True, they don't have the same talent they had last year but they are fundamentally sound and are well-coached.
They beat a good Dyer Co., TN team last night at M-duke. They shot the "3" really well and their 2-2-1 press gave Tech fits. Dyer played very aggrressive defense but Tech was able to execute when it counted.
Stay tuned, this is a fun team to watch.
Tough to match up with.
1G - Really quick at this spot with Bunch and Dunn
2G - Diggs is on the best shooters around
3G - Chesser is deceptively quick on the drive
4F - Moore/Jones? (#42) Small for the position, but has great hands and uses her body as much as possible to box out on the rebound.
5P - Fletcher can run the floor and posts up well. Can make the outside shot to keep any D honest.
Bench - I think they are 8 deep at least with Lamb and Loftin.
How Batesville beat them last year still puzzles me, but that's the conference. On any given night.
I still think Wynne is the key to the confernece w/ G-Bryant, P-Hall and Robinson as the glue and the others playing their repective roles. I also think the team w/ the best press takes the crown. WY beat FC 3x last year w/ that core in tow.
Wynne is in the Searcy tournament and PG SHootout. Those two tourneys will reveal more about the league. Blytheville and West Helena meet up in Jax in Dec.
FC is also in the Searcy tourney and the WY tourney in late DEC. FC is 2-2 and finished 3rd in the Mt. St. Marys tourney in LR earlier this month.

The 4F position you're referring to is Savanna Moore. She is small for the position but makes up for it in strength. By far the strongest on the team. Very solid on the defensive end of the floor and an excellent rebounder. She has had double digits in rebounds the last three games.
The Lady Eagles are now 7-1 on the season after two convincing wins in the McDonalds Shootout in Paragould. The Eagles ran past Pocahontas on Thursday and took care of Wynne on Friday night. They have the expected showdown with CAC looming in the championship game Saturday afternoon.

They could be in some deep trouble tomorrow....
Apparently I underestimated GCT....Seems they played a helluva game against a helluva team and lost a double-overtime thriller in the finals. CAC is the real deal, and just maybe so is Tech. Should be a fun year for the green. Congrats to CAC on their 5th title, and also to Tech on an impressive performance in defeat. I wish I could've seen it.
GO EAGLES!
excellent game CAC would have beat tech by 20 if they hadnt missed so many lay ups ...

IF if and buts were candy and nuts we'd all have a Merry Christmas. Missed layups are part of the game. The Lady Eagles have nothing to be ashamed of with that game. They played their guts out. This game will only help down the road.
Savanna, Elisa, Amy, Katie, and Brit, keep you're heads up! Ya'll played a great game. Learn from that game and carry it over to Monday night.
facts are facts not candy or nuts... your right they played a good game just not good enough !!!!!
that game was one of the sloppiest games i have ever seen. gct girls are out of shape and that cost them the game. cac couldnt throw it in the ocean. this is the worst cac team in the last 5-6yrs. they are young and will be good, but right now they are average at best. gct would have won easily if they would not have had more turnovers than shots taken. gct should have won, bottom line.
I was thinking that CAC lost everybody, why do you guys think they are so good?

They have defeated arguably the best team in the state this season, NLR, and are a very, very good team.
NLR is not the best team in the state, Fayetville is ranked #24 in the nation by USA Today, Rogers is very good. There are a lot of girls teams that are better.

...a few, but not a lot....
If you have not had the fortune or misfortune to run into the CAC girls in the summer you probably would not understand. These girls play summer ball together all summer...they host & play in several MAYB tournaments that actually promote high school team participation. Absolutley nothing wrong with this....it shows up when high school hoops season begins. With all the tournaments & team camps this team participated in it was reported they won over 60 games without a loss. I realize that is summer ball but their whole intent is to make the high school team better. I am in no way connected to CAC but have observed from the outside. You may find better talent, but you will not find a "team" that has put any more into their high school program. This is why they will always be a step ahead when the season gets under way.
