GCT plays Batesville southside monday

That is true that those teams practice year round but another reason they are great teams is the majority of the teams in the west are hispanics. It would be like a town in Mexico that is mostly american and they would dominate in basketball and Football. On a side not Batesville Southside boys are extremely good this year. I saw them scrimmage earlier this year and they will suprise you. It should be a great game between Tech and Southside.

I don't recall Harrison being loaded with hispanics when they won thier recent state championships. Being hispanics does not make good soccer players automatically. It just means that they were given a soccer ball to play with instead of a baseball, glove, bat, football or basketball. It also means thier parents were more likly to play soccer with them and incourage them to play soccer over other sports. And if they played soccer before coming to Arkansas they most likely had a soccer coach that knew something about the game before his/her kids started playing it.

The best coach i've seen in NEA is hispanic, his best players are not. Yes his son is a key player on the team but he has the ability to make soccer players out of athletes. When Arkansas dads start kicking the ball around with the kids instead of playing catch(baseball or football) or shooting hoops during those afterschool times then a team with hispancis will mean nothing.

A college soccer coach said it best recently, he said the baseball coach was lucky because he had all kinds of local talent to recruit because of strong community and high school programs, he on the other hand had to look outside the state and country to find solid soccer players.

GCT steam-rolled past batesville southside tonight. final score 3-0. gct controlled the ball around 90% of the time and had MANY chances to score more but did not capitalize. it could have VERY easily been a whole lot worse thatn 3-0.i think batesville southside had 2 or 3 shots on goal all night but they were from way out. the ball was hardly ever on that side of the field the whole night. this brings gct to 2-0 with wins over searcy and batesville southside this year. they play again tomorrow night against marion. anybody know anything about this team?

If GCT will play like they did the 1st 5 minutes of the Southside game, they would beat anyone, looked like they ran out of gas 5 or 6 minutes into the game, picked things back up when they got thier second wind. Norwood and the Fernados could do no wrong along with outstanding play by Gill and Pickens. GCT had fairly solid play by everyone. Biggest problem was that after GCT got up 1-0 they started trying to score themselves(numerous players) from way out instead of passing to the guys in position. All 3 goals occured when GCT got the ball deep and put it in play infront of the goal with multiple attackers present.

I heard that marion lost to batesville southside 1-0. Can anybody confirm that?

If they played, they played at Southside.

Southside has only played batesville and Tech. I know Marion beat Nettleton 2-1 and that's all I know. Congrats to tech last night.

yeah it should be a good game between gct and marion....weather is callin for 20 degrees and wind about 25 mph. both teams will have to keep the ball low is they want to get anywhere tonight. i'll update everyone on the game later tonight. has nettleton won a game this year? i heard they got beat by marion 2-1 and jhs 7-2.

tech beat marion 3-2 lastnight. marion scored in the first ten seconds of the game on a 50-50 ball in the box when both players went up for it and noone fell down, they just called a pk. gct scored 2 before halftime. marion scored late in the second half to tie it up at 2. gct scored with about 8 minutes left to take the lead and the victory. the conditions they had to play in were very nasty but both teams played a very good game. gct is now 3-0 and will play westside thursday. are they any better this year?
