Of course memphis does have 600,000 people compared to jonesboro 60,000. Id love to see westside in a big christmas tournament. And what is the Madden kid transferred to westside? Just throwing that out there.

I don't know what he's averaging this summer, but i'll find out. I do know 3 weeks ago he got 20 points and 20 rebounds in a game. Hunter is the Real Deal. You guys just hide and watch!

I hope he does turn out to be the real deal and he ends up on the hill. cool.gif I just don't see it right now.

Wow, you tossed Niles name? That dude is a rarity man! Anybody that is that fat and can jump that quick and high is amazing! However, coach Cal acts like he is scared to even see Niles near the ball, so not that great of a name to toss in reality.

I didn't compare him to Hansbrough, just heard his name mentioned in the same sentence as by several different people. I watched Hans from 9th up and he always seemed like they should fit him with a helmet so that he didn't hurt himself running into walls. He still plays that way. I would hope that Hunter knows what it means to pass the ball when 4 men get on you unlike Hansbrough. Not saying he is not a good player, but if you want to make it seem like Hunter could never be that good, I would say that if he has half a brain he could become a better team player than Hans easily.

I think that Westside seems like a fine fit for Hunter, but if Madden is anything like his older brother I wouldn't wish that on any school in AR other than EPC. I don't know him though, but let's not even bat the idea around that he would try and join up with Hunter.

Comparing Hunter with Tyler Hansborough is crazy.  I saw Hansboraough play about five times in HS. They have totaly different games. Hunter is a finess player and Hansborough was a beast even in the 9th grade. Hansborough's game didn't change that much from HS to college other than he got stronger. He was a banger down low and Hunter is softer. Not saying he wont get more physical as he gets older and stronger just dont see that comparison now. If he hits weights he could stand at least 25 lbs if not 30. That extra weight and strength would keep him from being pushed off the block. No doubt is is a good player now and will only get better. I would personally like to see him at a larger school with better competition.Maybe a Jboro, GCT or even Nettleton< preferably a 6A school.

You're right TH has something that can't be coached "heart". Hunter has yet to even play a game as a sophmore, and he's got a ton of attention. If Hunter improves any at all from year to year He'll put up very simuliar numbers to TH. Will he have the desire to compete at the d-1 level? we'll have to wait and see. I'm sure pulling for him to be successfull at the next level. As far as competion, he'll get doubled and tripled every night, and he's already proved he can compete against J'boro and nettleton.

Westside beat J-boro ONE time......got beat by Nettleton twice and V V once.
And then they did what in the Dist tourney?

Pokeyfan- 06-08-2008
Westside got beat by Pokey twice this year too....

french543- 06-09-2008
Just because his team got beat, doesn't mean he didn't compete against them.

bearbait- 06-09-2008
if you are going to make the argument that his team got beat when the topic is him personally, then you have to bring out what he did in wins and loses against those teams. He is also not the Sr. leader on his team, so more blame would have to fall to the leaders if you are going to say they lost to someone.
So how did he do in those games?

hoopswatcher- 06-09-2008
I was just saying that I would like to see him up againest that type of competition every night not 3 or 4 times a year. I think he would develop as a more physical player quicker.

Hansborough not a team player? You must not watch much basketball. He is relentless on the court from the tip to the final horn. Gives up his body everytrip down the court. Plays harder than any other so called star in college basketball. He didn't get alot of calls when he got hammered. If Hunter goes to Arkansas and plays half as hard and becomes half the player Hansborough was at NC, I will turn flips through the middle of the new mall in Jboro on a Saturday the week before Christmas in a dress.

bearbait- 06-10-2008
like I said, he needs a helmet so he doesn't hurt himself running into walls. Team players know how to pass out of a 1 on 4 situation.

The flips in the mall thing...we gotta get this Hunter kid into some Nike camps so he can dominate at AR! That would just be to much entertainment no matter who it was.

I believe the kid is a totally different kind of player, but Coach Pel can make him mean! Just in case Hunter does go and dominate someone needs to make note of all the details of this bet so that we don't miss out on all that.

hoopswatcher- 06-10-2008
Mark it down. I dont know which would be funnier to see. nearsports/0c4fae0e.gif Me trying to do a flip or me in a dress. lol nearsports/07388820.gif

I will need basketballdad, Missco and Mike Diesel to be my spotters during the flipping.

I honestly hope he does become a superstar. He seems like a good kid and I like seeing local kids do well at the next level. It would be good for the area and being a HOG fan, that would be nice also.

bearbait- 06-11-2008
Oh yea! That would be awesome to have a J'town boy up on the hill taking over games! It has been far to long since we have had a big man with some touch from outside. He could do that for us.

And don't get me wrong, I ain't at all saying Hansy is terrible. I just think his lack of ability to pass out of tight situations is going to kill him in the league.

The fact that he is 6'9" and has half the athletic ability of most his size will hurt him in the NBA, not his nose for the ball and the basket. I love watching him play. I get fired up and want to go rebound something just watching him. I just don't understand you not calling him a team player.

he is still a young player and I do wish him luck. I just dont see the ability to play on the hill. This past summer in conway, the one game I saw....he didnt do much. But he was there playing more than I can say for most. And as far as the Madden kid......you will never see him in a RZRBK joursey.

bearbait- 06-13-2008
I slightly agree with the not seeing him in a razorback jersey, but what makes you say that? I am just curious more than anything.

cottonhog...I am from that old school, if you are triple and quadruple teamed you kick it back to the guard and then try to get open again. He has a really hard time with that. Yea, he bust his tail and hits the board every game. Then he just has this addiction with getting ganged by four guys or something and just tries to take them on every single time. It kills me to watch that dude! He ain't at Poplar Bluff High anymore where he can do that and it be ok.

did Madden transfer from EPC to Little Rock PA?
