to Brookland's credit they have been playing heavyweights this summer and fall and Hoxie has been playing mostly expansion teams. By the end of the year, this match-up will be much closer...

McCarroll21- 09-08-2006
Brookland will win the next matchup, as well. So far everything is playing out the way I said it would in the Brookland thread. Hoxie will get them when it matters over in Harrison.

You may very well have something there McCarroll21.

Not taking anything from Brookland, but Hoxie did not play to their potential. Would the if's, if's, if's mean Hoxie would have won yesterday? I'm not sure, but the game could have been just as easily been a lot closer.

Winning over a rival two times in a season can be achieved with hard work and determination. When it's time for the third meeting to come around, those you won have had a chance to learn from your strengths.

I like your optimism McCarrol21 and I'm sure the Lady Mustangs appreciate your willingness to stand behind them. I know I sure do!!! clap.gif

The 12th Annual Truman Invitational Volleyball Tournament Runner-Ups

Hoxie first victory came by winning over Batesville Southside

Pocahontas and Hoxie faced each other in not one set of games but they met again and Hoxie came out victorious again.

Hoxie lost their first game to Paragould, but turned around and beat them but by not enough points. Hoxie would then have to beat them twice. Hoxie came back later in the day and beat Paragould not once, but twice. But…remember it was a double elimination tournament. All the girls were worn out on all teams and Hoxie fought but came up short.

Great job Lady Rams…I enjoyed watching a bunch of good games between your team and Hoxie.

I give out a special thanks to Truman and those responsible for putting on the tournament.

Great job Ladies!!!!

Some disappointment yes, but all in all it was a good day. We all love our girls...every last one of them. Every team in attendance saw what potential Hoxie has this season and the girls just seems to be getting better and better. Unlike most every other team I witnessed at Truman, Hoxie does not substitute any players. Nope, notta , zilch...zero even! The same six players fought with all their might all day long. Some might then think Hoxie has no depth. WRONG!!!! At any time players can be called on to fill any number of positions. The Lady Mustang team is being represented by the six on the court. Without the rest of the team the six would not be at the level they’re at. Playing on the floor is but one part. A team member may have the position of what I call riding the pine. They all had a part in yesterday’s success and should feel honored in being an important piece to the puzzle which makes Hoxie’s Lady Mustangs Volleyball team what it is today. Without those pieces every member offers, success would be much harder to achieve.

I too am looking forward to next year. I know adjustments will be made to insure the tradition a successful Hoxie’s Volleyball program. We have capable underclassmen on the varsity team this year and a boat load of freshmen with will step up. Next season will have it’s share of excitement as well. Some faces will change, but when it all comes down to it. They’re all still Mustangs at heart!

Go Green!!!

Why is it this way? ‘Cause, that’s why!

We at Hoxie have grown to expect nothing less when playing our cross town rivals from Walnut Ridge. Close calls? You bet ‘cha! Add a lot of cheering and yelling at the refs and you’ve got just about all it takes to make a good hometown rivalry between neighboring schools.

The Lady Mustangs won the first set by a score of 25-11, followed by a marathon game of 28-30. Walnut Ridge was fired up and something had to be done to quench the momentum. Walnut Ridge fought hard at first, but the Lady Mustangs were able to capture the next set by a score of 25-14. Again the Lady Bobcats fought back and were determined to make it hard for Hoxie. The final set was 25-20 Hoxie.

My questing is…was it touched or not? I guess we’ll never know. If anyone would like to tell me feel free to message me. I sware I won't tell anyone! th_204.gif But the one no call made all the difference in a game between the Lady Mustangs and Lady Bobcats. The game ended with the only victory by the lady bobcats. The score was 30-28. It was classic Hoxie/ Walnut Ridge. clap.gif

Hoxie faces Cave City at home tomorrow followed by CRA at Paragould.

clap.gif Great job ladies!!!! clap.gif

All Hoxie teams continued in their quest to make this season one to remember.

Add another victory to the Hoxie Junior Girls. This group of young ladies might be one to keep your eyes on over the next few years. The trio of Kelsey Lewis, Chasity Becker and Courtney Jones could be the reincarnation of this year's senior high Rachel Goff, Tabby Weaver and Jessica Anglin. These Junior girls have improved so much in just one year. Keep up the hard work, 'cause well need you next year too!

Hoxie's Senior High team won all games as well...yes even the B game! clap.gif I like to call them the Lady Mustang Junior Varsity...sounds more distinguished. 34bfb6f8.gif
I have a vested interest in the B team for all those who may not know me mdr.gif

Cave City has improved a lot since the last time Hoxie faced them. I still believe as I posted earlier in the season...It's only a matter of time before Cave City will be a contender. Keep working hard girls!!!

Great Job GREEN!!!

cb5softball- 09-13-2006
thanks once again for the nice comments on cave city volleyball- we are working hard and doing some good things for pretty much a first year team in such a great conference. sometimes we feel like we have been thrown to the wolves but hope to keep fighting it out.

pixtaker- 09-15-2006
Hoxie’s main play maker was left keeping stats as Hoxie looses to CRA. Competent replacements were in the lineup, but the loose of Anglin has the lady Mustangs limping on the court nearly as bad as Anglin. doh.gif

There is more to this story, but this isn't the place. I believe anyone who was there knows exactly what I am talking about mdr.gif

Get well soon Jess!!!

NutRidge- 09-15-2006
I wasn't there, but I'll go ahead and guess that y'all got some home cook'n last night. I hope AAA takes note of whats going on over there.

I watched Hoxie Junior High play Saturday at the Valley View tournament. Just by watching the 2 games I watched I believe you need to change the names of the trio you are talking about. Erika Manis and Shayla Coats should be added to that list.

pixtaker- 09-18-2006
I don't believe a trio can have 5 members...I'll do some checking tho' mdr.gif

While I may be wrong in thinking such...I feel Kelsey and Courtney are basically hitters while Chasity is a sitter. Erica and Shayla are in my estimation passers. While we're at it...let's add Cassie Teel to the list as well. Now we have 6 members of a trio. doh.gif Like that makes any sense? 0c4fae0e.gif Each player has a part in a team. Pointing out an individual player does not in no way take away from anyone else.

Harris,

I think you misunderstand my post.

I have seen Tabby, Rachel and Jessica grow up from babies. At one time Rachel was even on a team I coached when she was 9 years old. I have known both the Anglin and Weaver girl since they were in diapers. Watching these girls grow up gives you an insight into the communication process of someone who has grown up together. I have also seen Courtney, Kelsey and Chasity grow up from elementary kids. You think I need to change some of those names? Why is that? Are these three now unable to communicate with each other? I think not and stand behind my post 100%. If that isn’t to your pleasing, I’m sorry.

During the 2002 softball season a group of girls from Hoxie won the State Championship in High School slow pitch softball. Most of these girls had been playing together for 6 or 7 years. Some maybe more. Does pointing out that in any way take away from any other member of that team? NO!

The similarities between the trio I mentioned on the Senior High team does not or should not imply anything other than a good sense of communication between those players. The same can be said about Courtney, Chasity and Kelsey. They simply communicate well.

If you'd care to make a thread on other players please feel free to do so. I'm sure we'd all enjoy reading about other players as well.
