th_boohoo.gif Senior Night at Hoxie th_boohoo.gif

Hoxie Lady Mustangs took on the Lady Redskins from Pocahontas. The fans at Hoxie saw the four seniors from Hoxie put on one of their best shows of the year. Hoxie took the match with Pocahontas by the scores of 25-18, 25-11 and 25-16. After a slow start the Lady Mustangs played one of, if not the best game as a team they’ve played all year.

Hoxie closes out its regular season on the road with Marion. The battle with the Patriots is one the girls from Hoxie look forward to every year. Playing the 6A Lady Patriots will prepare the Mustangs for the stiff competition of this year’s State Tournament to be held in Harrison.

State Tournament will be November 1st thru 4th

Go Green Team!!!!! clap.gif

Being a school having some 900 students, you might wonder why Hoxie would want to face off with Marion who boasts over 3700 students. Hoxie hasn’t made this a yearly game because it is easy, but because it is HARD. Hoxie hasn’t gotten where it has in its volleyball program by taking the easy way out when it comes to anything.

Hoxie made the 80 mile trip to Marion to play the Lady Patriots on their home court. The walls of the gymnasium are covered with championship boards which go back some 10 years. I’m not sure how long Marion has been a force to recon with in their league, but they are stronger than any team Hoxie has faced all year. The Lady Mustangs hung with the Patriots for the most part. Hoxie took off on fire and stunned the Patriots in every game. Although Hoxie finished by loosing the match, a lot was accomplished. Scores were 25-17, 25-20, and 25-14. Heads were held high by players and parents alike. Hoxie gained some respect from the Lady Patriots. They knew they’d been in a game when the night was over.

With this loss Hoxie closes the books on the 2006 regular season. Now eyes are turned toward the State Tournament to be held in Harrison. Take one day off, says Coach Judy Goodwin, then its back to the every day after school practices!

GREAT JOB LADIES!!!

GO GREEN TEAM!!! clap.gif

It looks to be as if the Mustangs did not do very good in the season!! I hear that they said they would be so good but of course they wern't!! Did they even make it state!! Everyone thought it would be brookland, hoxie, and piggott!! Well everyone thought wrong!! It was Lavaca and Brookland!! And we (Brookland) won state! We practiced hard everyday in the summer and through the year! It paid off!!

Great class Rack. Hoxie did make it to state, and were beaten by that same team that took Brookland the distance in the state finals. If you're going to lose, it's best to lose to one of the best, and that's what they did. Enjoy your state championship ring, you can thank AAA for deciding it was time to move VV and Westside out of AAA to give you that opportunity (just thought I'd poke back at you a little).

well to poke back at you.... if it hadn't been for valley view and westside moving up this year then Hoxie would have never made it to the state tourny!

Valley View
Westside
Piggott
Brookland

----There would have been no Hoxie with last years conference

Thank you for mentioning that to me. As a graduate of Westside High it doesn't seem to bother me too much.

well don't worry... with the way kids are moving in to valley view, the View will be a 5 or 6 A team before too long and then westside will be able to win something cause they have failed to beat the view so far this year in anything

Again, as a graduate of Westside High, that doesn't seem to bother me too much. You know, graduate, as in, one who went to school there and received a diploma. Meaning, in the past.

Thanks for trying to get a rise out of me, it's not going to happen though. I wish everyone at Westside all the best, but I'm not going to stress myself out over if their athletic programs win or lose. I learned long ago that playing high school athletics is more about developing character than winning or losing.

0c4fae0e.gif Then.......... What are you doing on this site? Why do you care? If you don't want a rise out of anyone, why do you defend Westside? I'm a graduate too, so does this mean i have more school spirit? Does this mean i have a greater desire to defend my alma mater than you do? Does this mean that your poor attitude is what started Westside on their downhill slide? Or did you even play sports? Were you any good if you did? Did you set the end of the bench? Were you a leader? Did you know that leaders are more competitive? Did you know that's why they defend their school? So now i'll ask again, what are you doing on this site if you don't care? 0c4fae0e.gif

So how old are u and don't you have anyhting better to do than to sit around and talk about high school sports!! Since you are a graduate....u know the "past"......then why don't you leave it in the past and move on to bigger and better volleyball!! mdr.gif

LOL! You know who I am so there's no reason to ask how old I am, and I'm proud that your team (mainly Ashton since I know her the best) won the state tournament. I was texting her throughout the tournament to keep up with what was going on over there.

And for both of you, when I said I'm not going to stress if they win or lose, that doesn't mean I don't care. I have a lot of pride in everything associated with my school, but more importantly, I'm a sports fan in general. Also, I would bet that if you took a poll of the active members on this website, more of them have already graduated and are just fans than those who are still playing high school sports. I guess if you aren't in high school anymore, you can't participate on a high school sports website? Hmm. If that's the case it's going to be real lonely around here without the owner of the site and the more active people on here.

I just didn't think it was such a great thing to do to say what you said about Hoxie. Then say they didn't make it to state? They did make it to state.

I am a grad from Hoxie too and I have 10 times as much spirit as I did when I was in school. I never had the chance to play sports for Hoxie, but I would have loved to have had the chance. How old am I? Older than dirt...that's how old. I don't really know what all is going on, but Hoxie sports rocks...all of 'um! mdr.gif

Just had to stick that in there United_States.gif

Thank you. Kind of funny how a comment about one person's class displayed in a post turns in to somewhat of a personal response.

Just because you graduate from the school doesn't mean you lose all pride in what they are to you. You just lose the edge to care if they win or lose. Obviously you want them to win, but your main objective is to be there to support those that are playing after your time at the school is done.
