Special thanks to former Westside standouts Julie Arnold and Lauren Castleberry. The two along with Head Coach Justin Dee from Lyon’s College held a one day camp for the 2006 Lady Mustangs on Friday August 4th. Lots of ideas and methods of play were discussed and practiced during the four hour session.

We at Hoxie have high hopes for this year's Lady Mustangs. clap.gif

Way to go ladies!!! clap.gif

I didn't know Hoxie was in the jamboree at Jonesboro. This is what the Jonesboro Sun had for it. Is Hoxie a late add to replace someone or did The Sun make a mistake?

I'm going by the schedule I was given. I read in the sun this morning Hoxie plays host to Marion on Friday. Now I am all confuzzed! 0c4fae0e.gif

What was listed as a Jr A & B game with Pocahontas was changed to a scrimmage for only Senior High. All players from each team had plenty of playing time. Three games were played with the B teams. Pocahontas won best 2 out of the three games. Was this a real “B” game? No…Both teams subbed in their best players to add a twist to the night of relaxed scrimmage. Both coaches and spectators laughed as coaches traded friendly taunts. “Put one up for the good guys” said Hoxie’s coach as the crowd laughed. "We aren’t trading benches are we?" asked Hoxie coach. Pocahontas’ coach sat back, crossed his arms and said “I ain’t” Parents from both sides laughed at the friendly exchange which lasted all night.

Not all was fun and games. Time–outs were granted when needed and coaches were free to talk openly between themselves exchanging ideas. Scores from last night’s A games were Hoxie 25 Pocahontas 17, Hoxie 25 Pocahontas 16, Hoxie 25 Pocahontas 21, Hoxie 10 Pocahontas 15 and finally Hoxie 14 Pocahontas 16.

Hoxie has no games the remainder of this week but plays @ Ridgefield Christian on the 28th

Hoxie traveled to Ridgefield Christian and easily took care of the Warriors. I'm not sure why, but I believe Ridgefield has only 10th graders playing on the senior high team. Hoxie's B team swept all games and came home with the win.

Hoxie travels to neighboring Walnut Ridge on the 29th

I think they are just starting they're just starting their program. If I remember correctly, they're just playing a JV schedule this year.

pixtaker- 08-29-2006
Not exactly sure then the Warriors started their program. I do recall them playing last year against Hoxie's Junior High team, but don't recall if they had a Senior High team. I am going by the schedule which reads (Jr. A& B and Sr. A). It could very well be a misprint. Either way, place another "W" on your score card for the Lady Mustangs. clap.gif

After the win, Hoxie then came back to the gym and practiced for tonight's game against Walnut Ridge. Good luck Ladies!!!

pixtaker- 08-29-2006
The Lady Mustangs continued their winning streak with sweep over the Lady Bobcats of Walnut Ridge. Walnut Ridge was minus their big girl due to a previous scheduled event. The lady Bobcats fought hard but came up a little short.

Scores were, 25-11, 25-19, and 25-14.

Great job ladies!!!! clap.gif

Hoxie faces Cedar Ridge on the 31st @ home.

pixtaker- 08-31-2006
I'd like to commend the players from Cedar Ridge...they never gave up!!! Keep up the hard work!

All that practice is paying off for the Lady Mustangs!!!! clap.gif The Ladies in green added yet another win to the number by taking care of Cedar Ridge in three straight games to win the set. Hoxie’s Coach showed sportsmanship by allowing 5 players from the bench to get playing time and giving the starters a well deserved rest. Not only did this show the depth of the Lady Mustangs, it gave a glimpse at the possibilities of next year’s team. 25-4, 25-5. 25-2. People….Hoxie didn’t skip a beat but kept things at a steady pace even with the more experienced players cheering from the bench. clap.gif

Hoxie also won all Junior High games clap.gif

On a personal note:

Parents are our player’s biggest fans. I personally want to thank a special someone for being a constant source for support and always a good laugh 34bfb6f8.gif You know who you are and I just want to say thanks for being there all these years while our little girls have grown up. Who would have thought all those years ago we’d still be laughing and cutting up? 07388820.gif You're the best!!!!!

pixtaker- 09-05-2006
WOW!!!!

What a match! Hoxie fought some feisty Hornets from Harrisburg but was able to hang on for a 3 game to 1 victory. clap.gif Being a conference game this is a huge victory for the Lady Mustangs! Forgive me if I mess up on some scores. 0c4fae0e.gif 25-15, 15-25, 25-10 and finally 25-23. I may be off a little but it’s a win no matter what!!!! clap.gif WOO-HOO!!!!

Hoxie also was able to snag a victory by breaking a 1 game to 1 tie in the best of three in a Junior High victory. Hoxie lost the Senior B game by loosing 18-25. th_41616-4.gif

The Mustangs from Hoxie proved a lot by winning what was not the prettiest victory but a big one for the win column none the less.

Congratulations go out to the Harrisburg players and coaches for being a team extremely better than they've been in the past.

Wah-oh! 0c4fae0e.gif

Hoxie lost its first match of the season to the Brookland Bearcats. Not only did Hoxie loose, they lost BAD!. Something wasn’t right about tonight’s game from the beginning.

Hoxie was able to win the first set by a score of 26-24, but it was all down hill from there. 12-25, 18-25 and 15-25. doh.gif

The Bearcats answered most every threat by the Lady Mustangs. Their team as a whole is by far the best Hoxie has faced so far this season. blink.gif

We do have some good news tho'...Hoxie's Junior High was able to win the match against the younger Brookland team. mdr.gif

Hoxie’s next game will be at the annual Truman Invitational.

Best of Luck in the tournament ladies!!! clap.gif
