I got a story for y'all...happened probably 8-9 years ago.
There was a bunch of us who went snow goose hunting. (we would sneek up on these geese by walking down the ditches and then popping up and shooting)
Well, we found a big bunch to sneak up on and when we got there, there was 2 other guys who wanted to go as well. We didn't know these guys but we couldn't just tell them no, so we all went after the geese together.
We shot into all the geese and had cripples running everywhere. The game wardens pulled up as soon as we shot. But we were all chasing down cripples and didn't pay them no attention. We finally get all of our geese rounded up, and then we pile them up at the truck, right in front of the wardens, because we are proud of our hunt.
The game wardens check everyone for license and plugs and everything is just fine. Then they go to counting our geese and every now and then they would pick up a goose and throw it into another pile.
Come to find out we had shot 5 speckled belly geese and BUNCH on snows. However, speckled belly season went out the day before and we didn't realize that.
Then the game wardens pull out all of our hulls that we had shot. (While we were running down cripples, they were picking up our hulls) Come to find out one of the guys we didn't know, shot into these geese with buckshot. No one would confess to shooting the buckshot so the game warden said he was going to take all of our guns and send them to the crime lab in Little Rock where he could determine who was shooting lead shot.
We suggested to the Wardens to search everyones trucks because we knew we had not shot lead, and we didn't want our guns taken. When they searched the trucks they found the empty buckshot box and some other geese that the guy had shot that morning, which was enough evidence to let us go.
We did have to pay a fine for shooting speckled belly geese out of season, but that was our own fault, we should have known the season dates.
