Tell the best shot you have ever took at an animal, that actually hit it.

If you tell some of yours I might tell some I've seen or done before.

Hunting in the swamps of Dagmire a few years back I stopped to eat a candy bar just after daylight. A coyote came along angling in fron to me and I thought is was a deer at first. Next moring stopped in the same place at the same time and when I saw a similier mized critter moving along the same path I assumed it was the coyote again and ignored it. When it got within about 20 yards I realized it was a deer this time. Brought up my scoped rifle and all I could see was brow hair because it was so close. Decided at that range it didn;t matter waht I hit and pulled the trigger. Deer fell over and I walked over to see where I hit it but saw no wound, turned it over and still no wound. Looking closed there was a trickle of blood coming out one ear canal. The bullet had entered one ear canal perfectly and just barely missed exiting the sameway on the other side. While carring it out I sat down to rest on a log and a big doe came out of the slough and about ran over me, Dropped her also.

When I was at Fayetteville, the lady who worked the gate at the eating commons on campus was from Imboden. She was the nicest person, seemed she knew every one of like 500 kids by name... when she saw me coming she would go directly to my card and turn it over. Didn't even need to ask who I was. Really impressive.

i wasn't a legal shot, and i didn't take it, but it was late one night at around 1:30 a.m. around dalton. we seen a deer up in field and one of my friends climbed out of the truck and snuck up on it. when he shot, he was probably about 30-40 yards behind and to the side of it. the slug went through the deers ribs and hung in its throat. needless to say, about two days later, game wardens come and found all that was involved and gave us each, all six of us, $600 fines and suspended our hunting/fishing liscenses for 3 years a piece. So, a warning to all those poachers out there, never do it again. i hate people that poach but now i have to say i hate myself. even though i was not the one that killed the deer, i was still involved and was guilty. never again, will i do that. it is unsportsman like and i should have never went along with it in the first place. doh.gif

hunting AND fishing license. i can still fish and frog gig on private property, but it has to be a pond, ditch, or creek that is contained on the private land. if any of it extends beyond the boundries of the private property, i cannot fish there. i can't do ANY kind of hunting, though. except animal killing, if you know what i mean....... biggrin.gif (you people from biggers and reyno know EXACTLY what i mean)
