This year's Joe V Jones Classic to beheld October 20-25 promises to be a great classic. The event hosted annually by Buffalo Island Central has attracted some very talented squads to participate this year. These schools are steeped in tradition and have many state basketball championships to their credit.

Nearsports Radio will broadcast the games from the MAC this year. We are excited to be part of this classic as it is the first braodcasts with our newly acquired equipment. Stay tuned as Nearsports Radio returns to the air October 20-25 bringing you the Joe V Jones Classic

WOW !!! What a week....

It sure sounded good hearing basketballs hitting the gym floor at the MAC tonight. Nearsports was glad to be a part of this. Trevor Matheny, Lee Birdno and Dalton Womack did a fine job broadcasting the game.

BIC Jr Girls and BIC Jr Boys won in impressive games against Amorel.

The fun resumes Wednesday nite at the annual Joe V Jones

Here are some fun highlights on the participating teams in this year's Joe V Jones Tourney:

Stephens Road Runners Sr Boys were the State Runner Up in the 2007-08 Class AA State tournament

Abundant Life Sr Boys were the 2007-08 Final Four in Class AAA.

Melbourne Sr Boys were in the Elite Eight of Class A State tourney last year.

Bay Sr Boys competed in the Class AA State tournament last year.

Turrell is predicted to make it to State AA Tournament this year by losing only one starter and adding the Junior District Champs to their Roster.

Viola Sr Boys have been in the State Tournament 9 or the last 10 years and were State Champs , Class A, in 2002.

Weiner Sr Boys were the Class A 2003 State Champions.

Marmaduke competed in the 2007-08 State Basketball Tournament.

BIC Sr Boys has a total of 4 State Championships in its History.

Black Rock Sr Boys has added an undefeated Jr High Squad to this year's roster

Weiner Sr Girls had a 28-5 performance in 2007-08 season and were in teh Top 5 of Class A and they are returning all of their players

BIC girls finished 31-9 last year, were Regional Champions and werein the Elite 8 for 2007-8.

Black Rock, Turrell, Sloan Hendrix, BIC & Viola have storng basketball traditons and are expected to have competitive seasons in their conferences.

Quite an impressive lineup for the Joe V Jones this week. Come out and hear the ball hit the hardwood and see some tremendous talent compete at the MAC.

What was the score between the BIC and Weiner Jr High girls last night?

We have seen some good games this week at the Mac.We still have 2 BIG days to go.Come on out and enjoy!! If you can't make it tune in to nearsportsradio,those guys are fun to listen to.

Man was the Black Rock/Marmaduke game a good one. Black Rock looked good in a 71-58 win. And too think, BIC has them twice this season...

Omg, if you didn't get to see or listen on Nearsports radio to the Turrell/Melbourne game, wow you missed an instant classic. Thats all I can say, the last 10 seconds of the game, talking about needing a lucky break and getting it, Melbourne did the impossible. Great game.

Stephens beat Turrell in a good game, Bic beat Weiner by 20, Bay beat Viola boys

Girls Abundent Life beat BIC,Melborne beat Weiner ,Viola beat Bay

I can agree with the above... there were alot of great games from what i got to see... i think its safe to say we got to see multiple state caliber teams in the boys and girls divisions...
