The Jr Redskins cameout again and in the first 3 minutes of the ball game showed their strength Just like last week against Harding they had GCT down by 3 touchdowns in the first 2:30 of the first qrt. The final score was 48-39 but only after the Redskins had played everyone off the binch. GCT never pulled their starter you should see that you are beat and give your other players some time on the field. nearsports/clap.gif

Did they play everyone or did they take out the starters and put them back in because pokey always plays almost everyone but seemed the starters were in at the end from where I was setting. Tech is trying to learn a new offense and defense with alot of new players so excuse them for trying to do that in real game situations I really think they were playing for the future not trying to cut into your margin of victory and as for dominant yes they were very good as good as any jr high team I have seen in a few years, they smacked them in the mouth and pulled their pants down as they tried to stop the bleeding much as tech does in basketball. But watch the film as I have and see if you are as proud of the game as you appear to be now seems the difference between dominant and cheap shots to in intimidate are closely related just glad it was played at tech not in the friendly confines of schoonover. nearsports/doh.gif Pokey will be very good this year nad congrats on the win. but don't be so holy in your judgement I think you have on rose (red) colored glasses. Tech is working hard and they will get better and win their share.

Well ye they did play everyone and yes some of the starters were back in at the end of the game. And yes I did notice they ( tech ) was running a new offense. And in real game time is the best time to learn it. And I have watched the game film matter of fact I was the one that filmed the game for Pokey but did not see the so called cheap shots but I will watch it again to see if I can catch them I do not believe in playing that way. And i have told my own son I had better not catch him playing that way. And yes they are a very talented team as is tech. And just so you know even some of the starters are 8th graders. And as for the ( rose colored ) glasses comment I don't wear glasses!! But all that aside it was a very good game and yes I am very proud of our kids. Good luck with the rest of your season.

big-n-ez- 09-15-2008
I grew up in pokie and everyone wears glasses when it comes to skins football LOL
I got kin on the senior team so I knew they were going to be good tried to tell the tech boys to bring it but I think they will learn to play from start to finish like pokie did IT was a good game and really enjoyed it as for the cheap shots I think it was 15 who seem to be on the edge but hey you got to be intense and thats why it's not for the meek good luck rest of the season

Whats up- 09-16-2008
I was at the jr. high game also. Yes we did play most of the team I can't say for sure all. Tonight I attended the 8th grade game or B game at Tech. Am I wrong or was there 4 or 5 players that started on the Jr. high team that played most of 3 quarters tonight. Our starters did not even attend the game. They stayed in Poky and practiced.
The score does not bother me, but it seems kind of pointless to schedule B games and play players that get to play in the real games. Our coaches think the purpose of these games is to allow all and I mean all of the rest of the team to get to play at least 1 quarter. I would like to know how many kids that play for Tech didn't get to play tonight, or if they did was it just a play or 2.
Big-n-ez you talk about playing for the future. Playing for the future is allowing other players to get some experience. Way to go Poky coaches. Keep it up and let all the kids feel apart of the team.

big-n-ez- 09-16-2008
I to was there and yes there are 2 kids on the 8th grade team that play on thursdays and they do start that is all that play enough to talk about and I to think they played to much tonight but thats partly because they are made to dress out for 8th grade/B games and last week at Nettleton they dressed for nothing only getting to go and cheer from the sideline, as they are 8th graders and we don't play a jr high game this week I was told is the reason they got more time tonight. That doesn't make any better but was the reason why... And yes B games should be for those who don't get to play on thursday and I commend your coaches for not making those kids dress for other games but on the other hand I am at a disadvantage here because I can't explain to my son why he has to dress out (school policy) to stand on the side lines at home or worse yet on the road and not play because he gets to play on thursdays as an 8th grader. They should probally have put one of them on defense and one on offense but nethier played any defense tonight. I think maybe after hearing pokie had 8th graders playing last week and the way that game went the coaches may have expected to much and promised those 2 to much playing time. anyway good luck rest of the year.

Tmaxxman- 09-18-2008
There was more than just 2!! Try about 1/2 the b team.

big-n-ez- 09-18-2008
yea I forgot you know nearsports/07388820.gif I only see them everyday so I'm sure your right why don't you just get over it thats not what your mad about anyway if the score would have been the other way wouldn't have mattered to you as much do you think excuses are for losers, you tell me who else plays besides #85 and # 3 if you think you can, if we wanted to cheat to win an B game we could have swapped jersey's and no one would ever know that those 2 even played on thursday you are really just upset about 2 8th graders and how they dominated the whole game is that fair to say? I just wish they would have let them play defense now because they did you guys a favor and the whining would have been more justified then, He didn't even start them and they were out midway through the 3rd quarter and I will quarantee they are then only ones dressed out for 8th/B games

Pokeyfan- 09-18-2008
Good grief!! This topic is getting a little heated. First of all, 8th grade games and b games are more for practice than anything else. I wouldn't dare go as far as to say that they don't matter..EVERY game matters to the kids that are playing. But, in the real scheme of things, the jr high games are all that really counts. I hope that I don't offend anyone with that comment, that's not how it was intended. It's hard to lose...no doubt about it. Maybe there wouldn't have been anything said if the game had went the other way. Who knows? I wasn't at the game...have no idea who played in both games. It was good experience for all of the kids that got to play. Pocahontas fans have been and probably always will be very passionate and maybe a little over zealous about their football program. Just in the same way that GCT is about their basketball program. Just so happens that Pokey has a pretty darn good jr high football team this year. They've been doing very well so far...actually that's an understatement. they've done great so far. But this particular game is long over and should probably stay that way. It's done. Look towards the future....the jr Redskins certainly are. Good luck to both teams the rest of the season!

Legit 8th graders

Tmaxxman- 09-23-2008
Can't for next year for these 4 8th graders meet again on the field. #3 if goes unhurt will be one terrific back for you guys by the time he is on the Senior high team.

big-n-ez- 09-23-2008
yea I hope they can keep the skins on the schedule, good out of conference game, both those boys #3 and #85 are legit 8th graders , matter of fact they are only 13 ,until the end of November and December. This isn't Osceola your dealing with LOL we don't have 15 yr old 8th graders. And #85's twin brother might very well be the second best quarterback at tech. If he decides to play again next year will be tough to shut down. Would have pushed for playing time this year on thursday night at QB and for sure would have helped on defense as a safety. nearsports/bird.GIF Tech has some real talent in 8th & 9th grade just hope the new coaches can get them back into football, first year my 9th grader hasn't played since the 3rd grade and couple of other 9th graders who are the same way, the last coaching regime just killed their spirit, but if I get all 3 of mine out there together you better get your popcorn ready !!!!!!
