Lady Eagles Move to 5-1
(Walnut Ridge, Ark.) - The Lady Eagles basketball team at Williams Baptist College improved its record to 5-1 with two wins last week. Williams downed Central Baptist on the road Tuesday, and then returned to the Southerland-Mabee Center to beat Blue Mountain on Thursday.
Freshman Olivia Morris led the way at CBC with 19 points and nine rebounds, as Williams downed the Lady Mustangs, 72-60. Courtney Sublett had 15 points and seven rebounds, Rachel Looney scored 11 points, and Jessica Shepard notched 10 points and seven assists.
Williams held on for a 67-63 win over Blue Mountain, behind Dez Jones’ 19 points and eight rebounds. Shepard added 13 points, and Jessica Broadway had 11. Morris pulled down eight rebounds to go with her six points.
It was the second win over both teams this season for the Lady Eagles.
WBC is slated for three home games this week. The Lady Eagles are to host Philander Smith at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. They will play Lyon on Thursday at 6:00 p.m., and Mid-Continent will be at Walnut Ridge Saturday for a 3:00 p.m. game.
