| HogsFan- The jungle was dismembered as it should have been. I don't know why you would ever doubt me. I commend Pokey's high school prinicipal for taking action. I have heard good things about her. To those of you who dispute that Marty Moore was coach at Maynard, I know that he was. He was and still is a fantastic coach and person. Pokey is lucky to have him. |
Let's just say "The Jungle" was done away with, my mistake. I was talking about the large group of students that paint their bodies red and white, stand behind the Redskin bench and scream during game. This large group of students mentioned above was referred to as "The Jungle" by the Pocahontas Admin., fans and students, and this was last week.

Oh my! Was there much blood? Where did they dispose of the body parts? I bet that was one helluva health department violation!

The administration at Pokey hasn't "done away" with the jungle. They don't want the kids cursing or taunting the other team but they do support the fact that they are at the games cheering on our teams. The season is over at Pokey. All of our games will be on the road for the rest of the year.
I think everyone should just be quiet about the lady redskins basketball team. The girls who quit had there own reasons that everyone doesnt know of and they will regret when their team makes it to state. But thats there business. Leave it all alone. GO SKINS! GOOD LUCK IN REGIONALS LADY SKINS!
This is my final post on this subject. It's over and done. I think that way to many of you, are too hard on this group, that gave all these years to the Lady Redskins. You don't quit a program after that many years without very good reasons, and a lot of sadness. No, this decision was not about one event and was not made in a team meeting. Each had already had that decision made for them.
There have been major problems for the last 4 years. Last year a member of the squad, a senior at the time, had a team meeting arranged with administration. She did not want her senior year to go as she had seen others go, and hers already going. The Administration was made aware of the problems, and knew they were real. The girls were not given any support to present these problems to the coach. Therefore nothing was done. Parents from all three grades also met with the administration, and pointed out the problems. Still nothing was done.
These girls made the best of the situation and went on to have a good season. This group you refer to as quitters were major contributors to that team. They all were very aware, that they only had 2 choices for this year, deal with it, or quit. They felt that they could handle it. They also felt, as did many posters on this forum that they had a good team and could do well this year. They started out that way, but were never given the chance to play to their full potential. They dealt with this also. Do you really think that this group and their parents, 3 of them being senior starters, would not have liked to finish this season? YES, of course they would, but there comes a point when you can take no more and they reached that point on their last day as a Lady Redskin. Their parents had encouraged them all through the years, but they reached their point that night also. I don't think that anyone that was at that game and had a daughter on the team would have felt differently.
In closing I would like to say best of luck to the future Lady Skins and hope they do not have to deal with everything our daughters had to. I just ask that you not be so critical unless you have all the facts.
Move on, everyone else has. Now the boy's coach will get to deal with you.
I keep hearing about how horrible it was. Let's hear some facts? What were the supposed problems?
Don't have a dog in the fight at all, but everyone seems to keep beating around the bush.
I was very impressed with the young ladies Coach Moore brought to Bald Knob last night.. Some of them looked very young and you could see a little fear in their eyes but, there was no quit in any of them.. They played very hard from tipoff to the final buzzer.. You should be very proud of these young ladies.. With the talent I saw on the floor last night I would say that the Lady Redskins should be a force to deal with next year.. They also seemed to get along very well with each other and their Coach.. Congrats on a good year Lady Redskins!!
Yes, Marty and his girls were both class acts last night..................

I knew I should have added this, but tried to show a little more class.
If certain members of the coaches family would learn their place and not have imput on the team, and go around telling others, stories you made up for the soul purpose of getting back to team members famillies, things would have been much better. Then you get on this forum last year stating the same thing, of course you said it was your boss, telling your made up story, which by the way you had to eat your words on. Then your daugter can't act like any other team member. She has to go telling things that were discussed in front of her, again for the purpose of hurting other team mates. This is where all the problems start. You should act like other coaches wives and show a little class, and if things are discussed with you, you should never repeat them or make up your own stories.
By the way I have already had one son graduate and have never had problems with their coaches, as a matter of fact have defended some. Your boss by the way denies having anything to do with the post I am referring to.
Observer,
You are so wrong, try again.

HUH? What in the world are you talking about? I understand that I have nothing to do with the girls team, but you keep drawing attention to it. Then you talk in circles and noone understands what you're saying. Slow down and try again. I'm getting a migraine.
Observer12-I understand u just fine.
Pokey seems to have a severe problem with their student body and lack of respect for others. Just my opinion. But the way I see it is we would all like the facts and not a teenagers perception of how things are. If this is an on going problem then I have to ask : Why is the coach still there ? Why do kids keep trying out for the team ? Did the team try to talk to the coach to express their feelings ? Lady Skins - When you tell your kids about your high school basketball team are you going to proudly say "yeah a bunch of us walked off and left our team mates just to make a point" ? Then what are you going to do when they follow you example and quit everything they start? This problem did not happen over night. If it escaladed out of control then You dear ex-Lady Skin/parents allowed it to !!
Jusy my opinion!
This one has run its course, folks. Move on.
