Lyon College edges Williams Baptist, 42-40

WALNUT RIDGE - The Lyon College Pipers narrowly avoided an upset Tuesday night, escaping with a 42-40 road win over the Williams Baptist Lady Eagles.
Both teams combined for a dismal 25 percent shooting percentage. Each team shot below 26 percent from 3-point range.
Lyon (2-1) came out the winner on the stat sheet, hitting 17 of 58 field goals for 29 percent. WBC hit just 12 of 58 for 21 percent. The Pipers were 3 of 13 from the arc, while the Lady Eagles were 6 of 23.
The Pipers were outrebounded 49-44, but held an advantage in turnovers, losing just 10 possessions to the Lady Eagles' 14.
Coach Tracy Stewart Lange's squad picked up eight steals and blocked five shots, while hitting 5 of 11 free throws.
