| I really think that Obama will be the next president. $4.00 gas is going to win the election for the Democrats. |
While people may complain about gas prices, I don't see a lot of people riding bicycles or walking. Both parents have their own vehicle, and the kid has one as well. It's like that all over the country. I see a significant number of Clinton supporters voting for McCain over Obama and the same scenario could very well happen if Clinton is at the top of the democrat ticket. I have talked to more than one die hard democrat whi said they'd never vote for Hillary or Obama, The longer the battle between Obama and Hillary goes on, the better it is for McCain.
As far as McCain's health, I don't see that being an issue. While no spring chicken the idea of a 70's president isn't something new. Reagan was 69 when he took office and left office being almost 78. Age shouldn't be an issue.
As the election process goes on we will hear cries of male shovanists, racists or age discrimination. None will hold water, but all will be thrown out there just to see if it sticks.

Don't kid yourself. Age is an issue. If elected (and that is a HUGE 'if') he would be the oldest president ever to take the oath of office. Ever. I'm telling you, the American people are not going to elect this man, and those that do vote for him already know going into the booth that he isn't going to win. Clinton and Obama are in the real race for president. McCain is just a footnote.
I tend to think that the democratic nominee will win. I hope its Hillary but highly doubt that it will be. It will be very hard for me to vote for Obama and it has nothing to do with race. However, I just don't think this country can stand another four years of having a Republican as president. Obama is not the answer and comes with problems also.

McCain is a Republican in name only. (He's not what I call a true red state Republican) I tend to think if he could be elected as an Independent he would have done so when he first started his political career.

You say that McCain isn't even really in this race, yet the two dems can't seem to get any kind of momentum over him. I would think with as much interest as those two have drawn that the polls would show both of them smoking McCain in a head-to-head. Yet, still, McCain and those two are vitually tied.

As soon as they pick a nominee, the smoking will begin.

I just don't see it happening.

I would agree if Obama was in a race with anyone other than Hillary Clinton. I feel if she isn't the chosen one, she'll do nothing to help Obama...this includes coming out and asking the party to unify. I have read as many as 25% of either of those supporters would not vote for the other candidate. I can see a whole lot more middle of the road democrats voting for a somewhat "liberal" republican than I can see a liberal republican voting for a liberal democat.
McCain can pick a conservative Republican for a running mate and unite the "christan right". Keep in mind, McCain has caught the eye of Joe Lieberman who was the one time runnung mate of Al Gore. This will surely bring a considerable amount of support to McCain from the left.
