Do not have access to boat right now, wondering where the best place in NEA to bass fish from land.

If you like smallmouth fishing, the best place I know is Sylamore Creek just before it empties into the White River. That's just north of Mountain View.

I'm not sure but I hear Lost Lake is pretty hot right now! nearsports/07388820.gif All jokes aside, for Largemouth I would recommend large farm ponds or one of the watershed lakes if your on foot. However, most of these locations require permission to fish. As for public areas I've heard that Lake Ashbaugh has been restocked.

i may be a little late on posting here to help but lake hogue used to be pretty good for bank fishing. i haven't been there in a few years but the levee around it used to be accessible plus they have a dock that you can fish from. i've caught some pretty nice fish in the deeper water(bar ditch) on the west side of the lake. also the boat docks at tulot (oak donnick) have been pretty good for me at times. i don't know if the dock owners have a problem with people fishing off of them or not. high water in the river fed lakes is a problem right now.

I caught 5 nice keeper largemouths March 1st on Lake Norfork. After that snow and cold runoff water slowed it down again. These warmer rains should start turning them on again. I hope I get a chance to wet a hook this weekend. Good luck to all that venture out.

Is the Black River still flooding pretty bad? I have heard that some highways were shut down around Pocahontas and Walnut Ridge.

The high water is beginning to recede and they are opening the highways again. What a flood!

Yeah, on my way home this past weekend I got to cross the Mississippi around Dyersburg. I bet the flood water from the river stretched to almost half a mile from the start of the bridge. I have been crossing that bridge pretty frequently the past 3 years and sometimes when you went over it you could see land right out in the middle of river. When I went over it this past weekend you could not even tell where the sides of the river should be.

Water is still over 304 toward Delaplaine from Pokey, some trucks are going thru but cars are still detouring around.

Hwy. 37 between Tuckerman and Cord has been closed since March 19th. With the forecasts that I've seen, it's not looking to be open anytime soon.

Once that sucker closes it stays closed weeks even without rain.
