Not trying to start rumors, but apparently Nolan Richardson is beginning talks with Arkansas State officials about the head coaching position left vacant when Dickey Nutt resigned.

As a Razorback fan, I'd hate to see it. Like Pitino going from UK to Louisville.

Could get an in-state rivalry going though if it comes to fruition.

how quickly we forget all the racist things he said about arkansas people

I wouldn't hire Nolan to coach the bowling team

Rob Evans is a much better choice

I could have sworn that NEARsports.com reported this weeks ago. How is this news?

This is news because only recently has he actually talked to University officials.

It was probably just rumors at the time you saw it on NEARsports.com (can't imagine).

And ASU will do whatever it takes to become competitive not only within their conference, but also with that University in Fayetteville that shadows the Indians on the national scene.

If Nolan does come to A State I bet the seats would fill up.

1. Wrong. They've been talking for weeks. They are only admitting it now.

2. Wrong again. I didn't "see" it on NEARsports, I reported it on NEARsports.

3. Correct. But, again, we reported this story weeks ago.

KAIT 8 is reporting it now

That's suprising, I expected he would be hired before K8 reported the talks sometime next year.

Congratulations...you reported it on NEARsports.com. I'm happy for you.

You're the fly on the wall with insider information apparently, so why don't you tell us what the terms are and how close this is to being a done deal?

heck yes, come on to Jonesboro Nolan. Surely, even ASU can't manage to screw up the hiring of NR now. If they do screw it up, they will forever be the laughing stock of college basketball. No attendance and absolutely no revelance..EVER.
They should go ahead and announce the hiring tomorrow. Why did they need to pay a consulting firm? Oh yea, I forgot, its because they are ASU. If they don't hire Nolan they will look SO STUPID......again.

Deman- 03-03-2008
If Nolan is hired can u imagine what the attendance will be at his first game. It would be a Sellout.....11,000 paid attendance.
If any other coach is hired can u imagine what the attendance will be for that first game......about the same as what it was for Dickey's first game this season..Yawn. ohmy.gif

You are a troll. A very annoying troll at that.

We aren't as confident in our information on the terms as we were in our info that he had been offered the job. That's why we didn't report what we heard and we still won't.

As for how close they are, to put it quite sipmly as I did two weeks ago, the job is his to take. The question is will he. We do not have that information.

In LR today, Nolan was quoted as saying,
"Well I've visited with them and I will have some more visitations with the AD and the Chancellor. I will have some more dialogue with them here in the next day or so. It doesn't necessarily have to be Arkansas State, its am I through coaching thats the bottom line...."

Interesting comment...is he waiting on another school to contact him?
Is he just trying to get his name "out there"? Has anyone heard of any other school that might even consider him?
