You make a very valid point Rt. 64, but don't you think it works the other way also? If a big name comes in here and turns it around he will be out the door quickly. Look at FAU, they hired Matt Doherty and he was gone after his first or second year.

ASU and he was recruiting your son, would you believe him if he said he would be at ASU for your son's four years?

All he would have to promise me is two years.....by then mine could go somewhere
if he elected to. Having played for NR one or 4........he would learn more
and a better chance than playing for a "Nice guy" just getting started.

If the main goal is to sell tickets the administration should just gather up all the money they can and hire Bob Knight for one year.

i go for this one. nearsports/clap.gif

Anybody know if Nolan was at the UALR game toinght? I heard he was supposed to be.

Rob Evans would also put people in the stands, and would do it with quality atheletes that we can be proud of. He would be able to recruit some Juco's and super High Schoolers that could make a difference next season. This man, while at Ole Miss, took the Arkansas players that Nolen passed over and beat Nolen with them. Speaks volumes for not only his recruiting abilities, but also his coaching.

The only problem would be for exising players, they might not see much playing time next year.

If Nolan comes, we around Jonesboro will have to buy bars for our home windows, lock our daughters up for their safety, and not drive after dark for our own safety. I guess some of you have forgotten the constant turmoil in Fayetteville during Nolen's last 6 years.

I agree. Rob Evans would be the best hire. He is just what ASU needs. He would win at ASU after one year. Nolan wouldn't stick around long. He would last 1 season maybe 2 but that would be stretching it. I talked two 4 boosters t the regionas tonight that said they weren't in favor of NR. I think that the real basketball fans know wht would happen with NR. I say hire Evans or Kellogg. Evans can win with the type of player's that a coach can bring into Jonesboro. He beat Nolan on a regular basis with the type of kid's that he could recruit to ASU. Evans gets the most out of his player's. He has an eye for dimond's in the rough.

How's that much different from needing bullet proof vest and having to watchout for drunk drivers like we've been doing?

Have you forgoten the constant turmoil in Jonesboro during DN's last year?

I think that is a chance you have to take. If you hire a high profile coach and he turns the program around and at the same time he brings the excitement back to ASU basketball and in turn the convo fills back up with fans, then it is a win win even if the coach leaves, say after 4 years, you are in a better position than you are now.

WHAT EXCITEMENT? Their hasn't been any excitement at ASU since Coach Cat left. ASU will always be 2nd regarless of who they hire or how well they do.

i was at saturday's game........ nearsports/th_yawn.gif I had rather have watched grass
grow....other than the fact that i made money to be at the game..

Exactly

Hillbilly- 02-22-2008
Will they could hire Knight and Richardson as co-coaches. Excitment and National news guaranteed.

Or move the women's coach to the men's team.

whsfanbyforce- 02-22-2008
The man can recruit! Kids like to play for him. He's never been know for X's and O's, but he can win games. It's been 5 years since i when to a asu bb game, but if asu hires nr i'll buy season tickets.

Two questions...
#1...Does ASU have the money to hire one of these "big names"?
#2...Does anyone else remember the Ray Perkins Football Experiment in 1992 nearsports/0c4fae0e.gif

We need an "up and comer" that might stick around to help rebuild the program.
