Kinda like Stan Heath? He was supposedly a proven HC and was as an assistant for MSU during their championship run. We all know how that turned out.

"up and comer" is a long term investment for an unknown result. Get a proven coach (Nolan or somebody else) to start the program and groom an assistant to take over. IMO, Nolan would get things off to a good start and could probably give 3-4 years in the process.


For the record, I was a neighbor to Coach Catalina's parents for years in Turrell and I attended the games routinely. I thought he was an excellent coach. I hated to see him forced out.

I liked Catalina as well. He was a really good coach and it was a shame at how his career ended. The college coaching profession is a tough business. Get a guy on the way up and when he has success at a mid-level school, then he's gone. Hire a guy who's been around for a long time, who knows how long he'll stay, then you are right back at square one...looking for a coach. I remember all of the negative talk about Nolan his last few years at Arkansas. Why, after 6 years of "vacation" (as Nolan put it) is he suddenly a "hot commodity"? Dr. Lee has a tough decision to make. Hopefully it will be made with the long-term interest of ASU at heart and not a "feel good" hire. But I will certainly support whoever is hired. I feel we owe that to the University.

Now that we have all the discussions out of the way......when does Nolan start?

I listened to the interview twice. Nolan denies that he, his agent, or his lawyer ( noticed he mentions his lawyer more than agent), have been contacted by ASU. So how can the job be offered without any contact?? Surely Nolan would not lie to NEARSports.

Also, as much as he talked about school's expectations pretty much eliminates ASU.

Now let's move on and go after the right coach, ROB EVANS.

He also said that if they had called his agent/lawyer, they had not told him about. Listen closer.

So there MAY have been a job offered to NOlan 4 days ago, and his representatives are not going to tell him??

What do you EXPECT him to say. OF COURSE he's going to deny. You people act like we've never been down this road before. ALL coaches deny.
