I agree about the game of the night in the conference, I think it's a toss-up.

I guess reading isn't my strength today. Should be a fun night.

GCT 70 NP 57

Crazy game with an even crazier ending. NP led most of the way, by as much as 12 in the first half. GCT clawed their way back within 4 at the half and were lucky to be that close. It was close the rest of the way, with NP keeping a 4 point lead most of the half until GCT finally pulled even with about 4:00 left. GCT started to pull away slowly until it was a 7 point lead with just under 2:00 to play, and NP's coach lost his cool, got teed up, GCT had been fouled, so they got 4 FT's and hit them all. GCT led by as many as fifteen, and NP's players kept fouling hard, some of their bench players headed onto the floor after one foul. NP's coach looked to tell one of his players to foul someone hard, so Bowlin went to the ref, NP's coach eyeballed them, so Bowlin mouthed at him, and it was on, everybody was holding everybody back, most of NP's players were at halfcourt, refs called the game with about 30 secs to play. 70-57. nearsports/bird.GIF

As for NP as a team, they are for real, and can go 10 deep without dropping off much. They play good hard defense. #1 can flat-out shoot the three ball. He had two 4-point play opportunities tonight. #33 and #20 are both good players as well, and the big fella, #45, takes up a lot of space. As long as they can keep their cool, I predict they will make the playoffs.

i was sitting behind the np bench and thier coach was very classless all night. at the end he put the big guy in and said if they want to play physical then we are going to hurt someone. im not the only one that heard that. it was a very physical game and np started pushing and playing dirty and running thier mouths when they knew the game was over, thats what got it started. thier coaches, players and girls team (the only np fans there) were very classless in defeat. thier coach had no control of what was going on and he was trying to get something started.

as far as the game, np started out very hot, gct did not come ready to play and let them get a big lead. in the 2nd half, gct went to wes livingston and he got them back in the game and even got them to take the lead. np is very good and should make the playoffs. they are hard to guard b/c they have very quick guards and can shoot. but congrats to gct on a hard fought, no pun intended, win.

It does seem to me, albeit from a distance, that Coach B. has matured a lot. In his youger days things could have gotten uglier. Congratulations to a great coach and good team on the win.

Great assessment of what happened. Good post too answer. I was on the floor in the corner and saw all of this boiling up. The officials did the only thing they could have done in that situation....shut it down. I commend them for that.
