Either way you want to take it bro.
I am willing to take time out of my schedule to prove my point, you aren't.
It's okay man. You've been punked by a cheerleader.
Tell all your friends that a cheerleader called you out and you backed down.

I could bring this to a whole other level, but I wouldn't stoop to that. |
Like I said...what good would it do me to prove that a 23 year old is physically and athletically superior to a 30 year old cheerleader? I see no gain for myself there. Sorry Charlie but I'm a busy man...no time to tumble, flip, or flail my arms about.

1. Baseball - Pitcher vs. Hitter, Fielding and Throwing 2. Football - Place Kicking @ different lengths, Throwing for Distance/Accuracy 3. Soccer - Goalie vs. Striker, Kicking for Distance 4. Cheerleading - Tumbling, Stunting (I'd even TEACH you how) 5. Basketball - 1 on 1, best of 3, score to 21.

2 Football " Oklahoma Drill" You sissies can throw and kick all you want, but football is all about the contact.
6 Boxing

Come on Sigma. Don't be a wuss.
This is crazy...
I can see the bumper sticker now..."My cheerleader can beat up your cheerleader."
Also, do you think there is some confusion between cheerleading and gymnastics? I think of gymnists as being athletes. I don't think of cheerleaders as being nothing more than spirit groups. Maybe they are a combination of the two. I don't know.
One thing is for certain, the college female cheerleaders look a whole lot better than the male cheerleaders.
I think alot of the misunderstanding is we are talking COMPETITIVE cheerleading.....not stand on the sidelines and look pretty cheerleading. 2 totally different things!!! My 7 year old is a competitive cheerleader and rolls her eyes when we go to school ballgames and see the cheerleaders there! She is in amazing shape and has dedication that you cant imagine ....and just 7 years old. Competitive or allstar cheerleading has no off season.....these kids practice year round 2, 3 or more nights a week just for 3 mins on the competition floor to prove what they have. In that 3 mins, they dance, tumble, stunt, build pyramids, throw basket tosses....they combine many different difficult elements into 3 mins of explosive performance. They learn teamwork, dedication but most of all they learn to push themselves and in return they are excellent athletes in better physical shape than most adults. Whether anyone wants to acknowledge cheerleading as a sport doesnt really matter........when i look at my daughter ....i see an amazing young lady who is a better athlete than any of my boys who play 3 sports!!! She can go to their practices and leave those boys in her dust ......and all because she is JUST a cheerleader!! I invite anyone who doubts the athleticism of allstar cheerleaders to come to ACC any night of the week and then see how they feel!

That is a great post.

I agree with everything you are saying. I just don't think you work harder than everyone else. Do you work hard? Without a doubt.
To say you work harder, is showing a lack of respect for others.
I really do have all the respect for Coach KP and for Coach James. Im sure KP didnt mean to disrespect any of the other sports. My daughter was on their All-Star squad for 2 years and they really do work very hard. It is nothing like that standing on the side lines stuff that most of you guys are thinking of. I know my daughter was up there 4-5 times a week. 2, 3 , 4 hour practices and they earned my respect for that.
On the other hand there is no way anyone can compare cheering to another sport. Or baseball or football. You just cant do it, they all take skills the other sports dont require.
Just my thoughts,
why don't we call competive cheering what it is,,,,,DANCING!!!!!
Well I would say that dancing would make up about half of it but there is alot of stunts involved too.

| You started this thread KP...you KNEW what you were getting into surely and you KNEW that the majority of people on here werent going to agree with you. It seems to me like you wanted to toot your own horn a little bit on here. I certainly have never been a cheerleader but I have played enough soccer and baseball to know what i'm talking about and watched enough cheerleading to know what they do. They might go an entire game without moving 3 feet either way for petes sake. You can replay your entire high school sports career play by play on here to justify your posts on the subject but that still won't convince me and many others apparently that cheerleading is harder. |
Well Techniquely I did know that this convo would get kind of hectic due to people whom lack the knowledge of the sport would post. I posted this because I felt it should be made aware what would happen to cheerleading if it did become a sport. Yes I have my opinion and yes obviously you have your opinion about this subject. Im not asking you to change your opinion. Im in the same boat as James. I have played the sports giving me the knowledge of how extreme they are. I was a big soccer player! Played for 14 years. I knew how to play every position. Football I was a defensive end and Tight end. I played Basketball. Used to be a center. Baseball I was a third baseball, catcher, short stop, first baseman and outfielder. I have even played tennis and bowling for many years. I know what all these sports are like. Oh not to mention I even played Softball out here at Southside for 6 years. I had my own team for 4 of the years. And Ive seen those practices. Hahahaha Intense huh? But in MY, I quote MY OPINION Cheerleading is the hardest. Techniques to stunting, partner stunting, motions, and tumbling are all very nit picky. Being able to throw a girl up in the air and catching her feet with one hand, MOST people cant do that. I can! When you are one of the best stunters in NEA, I have alittle room to talk.
Oh to whoom you may be referring to on the ASU cheer squad that says its not that hard, Ask them Why they arent on my level yet! Then you will get your answer of "Its hard" or "I cant do that". Thats my opinion.
"why don't we call competive cheering what it is,,,,,DANCING!!!!! " Competitive cheer is not just about dancing. This proves the lack of knowledge you have of the sport. You have six main components of cheerleading. 1. Motion technique 2. Jumps 3. Tumble 4. Stunts and 5. Showmanship 6. Dance I dont beleive DANCING consist of all six of those. You have 1 out of the 6. I mean no disrespect by any of this but please understand, Dont trash a sport for which you dont have enough knowledge about and to back up your reasoning.
When you are one of the best stunters in NEA, I have alittle room to talk.
I still say you don't work harder than everyone else. Is what you do hard? Yes. does it take skill? Yes. Are you just a little full of yourself?
