QUOTE (BLUE33 @ September 18, 2008 10:36 pm)
Change is the word of the day these days.

But change what? Change why? Change how? Change for the sake of change is meaningless and even destructive. The communists made change for change's sake a political philosphy and see where that got them. Change on its own is an empty word and that's just why these folks use it: They want you to fill this empty vessel of a word with whatever you have in mind.

I'd rather vote for someone than for change.

Jeff JarvisĀ  BuzzMachine 2004

And its as true today as it was then..

It's not just a word. Obama has an entire plan, and outlines every issue in his Blueprint for Change.

Blueprint for Change

Go ahead and look through it. Whether you agree or disagree with him or his plans, you won't be able to say that he doesn't have one.

He's not using the word as an empty vessel.

You would have thought a 30 minute advertisement would have got that across but..sadly, it's just not that easy for Republicans.

Breakdown of Obama's Plan

Disabilities

"We must build a world free of unnecessary barriers, stereotypes, and discrimination .... policies must be developed, attitudes must be shaped, and buildings and organizations must be designed to ensure that everyone has a chance to get the education they need and live independently as full citizens in their communities.

Is this why he made fun of John McCain's disability about him not being able to email or use the computer?

Economy/Taxes

As president, Barack Obama will implement a 21st century economic agenda to help ensure that America can compete in a global economy, and ensure the middle class is thriving and growing. He will increase investments in infrastructure, energy independence, education, and research and development; modernize and simplify our tax code so it provides greater opportunity and relief to more Americans; and implement trade policies that benefit American workers and increase the export of American goods.

Code word is more taxes and more liberal spending on pork projects.

Education

Throughout America's history, education has been the vehicle for social and economic mobility, giving hope and opportunity to millions of young people. Our schools must prepare students not only to meet the demands of the global economy, but also help students take their place as committed and engaged citizens. It must ensure that all students have a quality education regardless of race, class, or background. Barack Obama is committed to strengthening our public schools to maximize our country's grea-*test*-('") natural resource - the American people. Obama believes that we must equip poor and struggling districts, both rural and urban, with the support and resources they need to provide disadvantaged students with an opportunity to reach their full potential. Too often, our leaders present this issue as an either - or debate, divided between giving our schools more funding, or demanding more accountability. Obama believes that we have to do both, and has offered innovative ideas to break through the political stalemate in Washington.

Code for more government control and throwing more money at it. I guess this has really worked for the inner city schools huh?

Energy & Environment

Senator Obama has been a leader in the Senate in pushing for a comprehensive national energy policy and has introduced a number of bills to get us closer to the goal of energy independence. By putting aside partisan battles, he has found common ground on CAFE, renewable fuels, and clean coal.

Means less oil drilling, more tree hugging liberal crap where we are supposed to drive electric cars or bikes and they jet set on their planes. You noticed here he said pushed for the policy, not actually ever passed any.

Ethics

Throughout his political career, Barack Obama has been a leader in fighting for open and honest government. As a U.S. Senator, he has spearheaded the effort to clean up Washington in the wake of the Jack Abramoff scandal. In a politically charged election year, Obama acknowledged that corruption was a problem that plagued both political parties. He subsequently enlisted the help of Republican allies to limit lobbyist influence, shine sunlight into the earmarks process and promote open government.

After all the thugs in his background, he ain't the one to talk about corruption and seeing how he was rated the most liberal in congress, he can't say anything about earmarks.

Faith

In June of 2006, Senator Obama delivered what was called the most important speech on religion and politics in 40 years. Speaking before an evangelical audience, Senator Obama candidly discussed his own religious conversion and doubts, and the need for a deeper, more substantive discussion about the role of faith in American life

After seeing his supposed church and pastor, you can throw his faith out the door.

Healthcare

"I...believe that every American has the right to affordable health care. I believe that the millions of Americans who can't take their children to a doctor when they get sick have that right...We now face an opportunity - and an obligation - to turn the page on the failed politics of yesterday's health care debates. It's time to bring together businesses, the medical community, and members of both parties around a comprehensive solution to this crisis, and it's time to let the drug and insurance industries know that while they'll get a seat at the table, they don't get to buy every chair." -Barack Obama, Speech in Iowa City, IA, 5/27/07

Code for socialized healthcare, ie, the government running it and taxing the crap out of us to pay for it. Yeah I bet that will work.

Immigration

Barack Obama has played a leading role in crafting comprehensive immigration reform. Obama believes the immigration issue has been exploited by politicians to divide the nation rather than find real solutions. This divisiveness has allowed the illegal immigration problem to worsen, with borders that are less secure than ever and an economy that depends on millions of workers living in the shadows.

Yeah, open the doors and put them on welfare so they can depend on government and vote democrat.

Iraq

Before the war in Iraq ever started, Senator Obama said that it was wrong in its conception. In 2002, then Illinois State Senator Obama said Saddam Hussein posed no imminent threat to the United States and that invasion would lead to an occupation of undetermined length, at undetermined cost, with undetermined consequences. Since then, Senator Obama has laid out a plan on the way forward in Iraq that has largely been affirmed by the bipartisan Iraq Study Group led by James Baker and Lee Hamilton

In a few words. Retreat and sit down and talk to Iran and N Korea without preconditions and get them to say, ok, we'll stop building nukes.

Poverty

There are 37 million poor Americans. Most poor Americans are in the workforce, yet still cannot afford to make ends meet. And too many poor Americans are single mothers who are raising children. Barack Obama has been a lifelong advocate for the poor -- as a young college graduate, he rejected the high salaries of corporate America and moved to the South Side of Chicago to work as a community organizer. As an organizer, Obama worked with churches, Chicago residents and local government to set up job training programs for the unemployed and after school programs for kids.

Just more welfare for more votes.

Last but not least:

Seniors & Social Security

Americans turning 65 this year have grown our economy by 4.5 times over the course of their working lives. They have tilled our soil, defended our country, taught our children, worked in our factories, and raised a new generation to build upon their successes. And yet, many struggle to get by. Threats to Social Security and Medicare, skyrocketing health costs, and abuse and neglect of seniors all jeopardize our unspoken covenant: our seniors worked hard to take care of us, and now we must be here for them.

Scare the old folks for more votes rather than actually fix the problem.

Let's break this down:

"Is this why he made fun of John McCain's disability about him not being able to email or use the computer?"

The rest of the Nation isn't running to be President of America.

"Code word is more taxes and more liberal spending on pork projects."

I don't know how much your annual salary is, nor do I care...but if it isn't $250,000/year then your taxes are going down, and you no longer have to watch Wall-street executives pad their pockets.

Pardon my rant, but "spreading the wealth" which McCain and his goons have applied the connotation of socialist(small step from Communist ohmy.gif ) to, is taking from the rich and giving to the poor. A fairy-tale version of economics that has somehow become evil.

Means less oil drilling, more tree hugging liberal crap where we are supposed to drive electric cars or bikes and they jet set on their planes. You noticed here he said pushed for the policy, not actually ever passed any.

I'm sorry to offend, but to say "tree huging liberal crap" when are planet is in the state that it is...well..actually...makes sense sad.gif Attitudes like yours are why we are so close to a global melt-down, not only due to Global warming, or the water crisis we're facing, but because we're going to run out of cheap, easily produced oil much sooner than what you want to believe. Please, check out the book "Last Hours of Ancient Sunlight"...it changed my life.

"After seeing his supposed church and pastor, you can throw his faith out the door."

We have reason to believe McCain is a real Christian man because....? nearsports/0c4fae0e.gif

Well, we can see from the nice, clean, campaign he's running(especially in his recent, desperate weeks) that he has such good, Christian values.
[sarcasm button, please]

"Code for socialized healthcare, ie, the government running it and taxing the crap out of us to pay for it. Yeah I bet that will work."

There are those big, bad socialist boogey man again. Health care for all of our nation's children....scary. ohmy.gif

"Yeah, open the doors and put them on welfare so they can depend on government and vote democrat."

Does the Mexican that mows your yard know you hate him? sad.gif

"Spreading the wealth" is in fact SOCIALISM, COMMUNISM, or whatever else you want to call it. I am absolutely dumb-founded that you people think it is acceptible for me to work my butt off to get ahead and make a decent living, only to be told i have to give part of it to the govt, so they can in turn hand it out to some low life, good for nothing, lazy, dope smoking piece of crap that refuses to go out and get a job and take care of themselves. you cannot give these people enough money to get them out of their "situation". grandma and grandpa mooched off the taxpayers, momma and daddy(if they know who he is) mooched off the taxpayer, and now little johnny is mooching off the taxpayer. but lets not forget, they are "ENTITLED". well i'm sick and tired of this crap. all you libs go ahead and elect mr. hussein, let him give what you work for to the undeserving, if you don't have anymore backbone than that you deserve it. i for one don't OWE them ANYTHING. they can go out and get a job just like everyone else. the reason the unemployment rate is never going to be zero is because there is always going to be people unwilling to work as long as they are getting a handout. if obama gets elected and congress passes his asanine tax plan then you haven't seen a recession yet. when businesses are unable to survive, farmers can't afford to plant, and you get hungry, then you are gonna be begging for some conservative politicians to clean up the mess. just my thoughts. like it or lump it.

The Democratic Party as we remember it from yesteryear....NO LONGER EXISTS!
It is NOW the Liberal Socialist Party!

I was once a Democrat but I saw the light......and became a Republican!
Now I am no longer a Republican ...but rather a CONSERVATIVE!

"CHANGE" is inevitable with the passing of time...but the kind of CHANGE that obama will bring will NOT be the CHANGE that those who voted for him will expect!
We will suddenly find ourselves looked upon by the rest of the world, as JUST ANOTHER THIRD-WORLD COUNTRY.......
And it's not like he didn't tell everyone EXACTLY what he was planning to do....."FUNDAMENTALLY change the united states of america"!
IF HE IS ELECTED....BE PREPARED FOR hard times.......they're a-comin! sad.gif

Hard times are coming?

Hmm......[scratches head]

Sleep easy, for it will all be over tomorrow. you'll wake up...and Obama will have easily won the election. Good or bad, deal with it(mwahahaha).

You make more than 250K/year?

Ok..I guess I believe that.(but in the not so much sort of way)

Because otherwise, your taxes are not going up. And if so, then they are going up 3%.

People belly-aching about taxes is so un-American. If you make enough for your taxes to go up, you are in no position to gripe and moan financially..

Oh, and you really think only lazy crackheads get assistance from the government? How do I argue with that? The ignore is so overwhelming... ohmy.gif

Missco- 11-04-2008
I'll be honest with everyone. I love paying taxes. You know why? Because the more taxes that I pay means that I made more money that physical year. States like Pennsylvania, Ohio, Illinois,etc... are going to win this election for Barack. Guess what its the blue collar workers in these states that voted for Obama. Is he 100%
the answer probably not but he is better than the alternative. Tonight I stood in line with several people that make more money than anybody on this board and several working class people. It was very evident that people from all walks of life wanted a change.

vvblazers- 11-04-2008
just heard today that his 250,000 level has just been dropped to anyone making 98,000 will be REQUIRED to pay more taxes. and you're right, 3% won't break me, as the bible says "give unto ceasar that which is ceasar's". but where in the constitution does it say that i am required to support those who refuse to support themselves. this bureauacracy is out of control, probably never to be reigned in. but that doesn't mean we should give up hope. if gov't would pull the tit called "a free ride" out of these mouths then things would change. they would either go to work and earn a living or starve to death. then all the true patriotic hard working americans could get this nation back on track. this may sound harsh, but sometimes it takes drastic measures to right a wrong.

french543- 11-04-2008
Obama wins in an electoral landslide.

XAVIER- 11-04-2008
This really makes me mad. The press is already announced that Obama has won. The West coast can't possibly have the votes counted. It looks like he will win and I really think some people are in for a big surprise. I hope I am wrong but I think he will turn into another lying politician.

Missco- 11-04-2008
he has enough electoral; votes at the present. It's over once you hit the magic number. He may turn out to be a very bad president but this is a day of hope.

XAVIER- 11-04-2008
This news flash just in. There will be a new cabinet next year. Cabinet of Relations and Oprah will be the chair. I think it is going to be funny when Obama finally tells her that part of her money is what he plans on spreading around to the poor.
