"People want an authentic conservative who has a proven record of results," Huckabee said in a statement. "I've concluded that I should take this necessary and vital step to bring a new kind of optimistic leadership to the public square."

Does this man have a chance?

I mean, Jimmy Carter became President.

So did Bill Clinton, but he was very well-known in the Democratic Party before he began his run. I think Mike would have to be considered a very, very, outside shot.

Good luck, Gov.

He doesn't have the chance of an icicle in Hades, and I thank GOD for that!

and why do you "thank God for that"?

Are you wishing our former governor an inauspicious beginning to his new campaign?

I am not necessarily for him, but I would like to know why you are not. What is it with which you disagree? Taxes, views on Iraq, those stupid BMI reports, lack of national name recognition, morals, massive weight loss, what is it? I think that it is going to be very interesting to see how he does. Will he win in '08? I would say that the odds are stacked heavily against him. However, recent politics have seen some very strange things happen. The next 20 or so months should be a roller coaster for him.

Because he's a wolf in sheep's clothing. He keeps one hand on the Bible with the other hand in the lobbyist's pocket.
I have a cousin that worked for congressmen Marion Berry and Hutchison. He said the stories from them about Huckabee would make your skin crawl.

Being the only Southern Republican running at the moment, I'd say his chances aren't bad at all.

I vote Republican.
But there is not a chance in censored.gif I'd vote for Huckabee. Not a chance.

Let's throw in a hypothetical:

Democrat: Hilary Clinton

Republican: Mike Huckabee.

Who gets your vote?

I recuse myself because I would be too busy hanging from under a bridge to make it to the polls. 34bfb6f8.gif

(seriously I will probably go for Rudy Guliani, provided he gets nominated... and I don't see any Repubs making a true challenge. The PTB [Powers That Be] will never back McCain becuase he's burned them too many times with his loony statements and positions)

PTMurph- 01-31-2007
If the Republicans want to win, they are going to have to run a social conservative, a Reagan type. So far Huckabee is about the closest we have to that. I think he might be more likely to make it to the ticket in the VP slot though.

I'm a feminist.
Therefore, that being the case ...I'll vote Clinton.
I think Mayor Guliani would make an excellent candidate and perhaps a good selection for president. He truly is a down to earth guy.

Rebel04- 01-31-2007
hillary clinton for president

french543- 01-31-2007
I probably wouldn't vote for Huckabee if he was the only name on the ballot. Hillary will get my vote.

down to earth all right.......he needs to be under the earth with his beliefs.

You know, I remember a political cartoon several years ago, you know the ones I'm talking about. Anyway, it had a scene of Satan sitting in He##, and across in front of him was a snowball flying through with the words "Clinton for President" on it. I thought, how true the cartoon probably was. Myself, along with most everybody else were mistaken.

I don't think "Mike" has the personal appeal that "Bill" had.

I think he has the best chance out of all of the ones talked about in this thread so far. Guliani or Huckabee? I mean really.

indiancenter54- 01-31-2007
Does Mike Huckabee have a chance??? NO!!!!!!!!!! Look at the mess he left Arkansas in, if he becomes president we as a nation are in deep! I hope that he thinks he has a chance, i want him to feel hurt and shocked when he loses by a landslide.

P.S. I hate our former gov, vote OBAMA or HILLARY
