That was one of the most amazing moments in Olympics history for me. I do not follow swimming or anything. I had just got off work, turned the tv on and saw the Olympics were on. I flipped over there and started to watch it. I had heard how awesome Michael Phelps was and saw him on there so decided to watch. GLAD I DID! That was just amazing. The French were so cocky at the start I was glad we shut them up! PROUD TO BE AN AMERICAN.
Phelps got his 3rd tonight.
I bet just about anything the U.S.A. Mens basketball team will get once in there next 3 games !
I'm not sure about anyone else other than myself, but I am having a very uneasy feeling about some of the Olympic competition.
As I sit watching Gymnastics I hear the roar of the "hometown crowd"
The United States Ladies team is filled with members from around the nation. Families make sacrifices so their children can have the best training possible. One of the Coaches from the US team was raised in China, but was given the opportunity to attend college in Iowa. After graduating college he then opened his own gymnastic school in the United States. In his own words he is now living the American Dream.
The Chinese on the other hand have children chosen by the state. As young as the age of three years, these children are taken from their families and made part of the communist machine of China.
The opening ceremony no matter how spectacular it may have seen on television was nothing more than a message from China. China doesn't try to hide the fact they think of themselves as the new world superpower. Was the message more/less the same during the 1932 Olympics when Hitler's goal was to show the world his new superior human race? I fear we may be witnessing history repeating itself.
It make me even more proud to have the freedoms we all too often take for granted.
God Bless the USA!!!
