PIONEERS RUN AWAY WITH WIN

PARAGOULD, AR – Led by four players in double figures, the Crowley’s Ridge College Pioneers ran away with a 100-81 win over Shorter College.

Derek Self led Crowley’s Ridge with 27 points and eight rebounds. Self connected on six of 17 three-pointers on the night. Chris Hall scored 24 points, and Keith Bowles scored 17 points including a break away dunk as time expired. Blake Bowers added 14 points on four for seven shooting from the three-point line.

CRC led 53-47 at the half before pulling away in the second half. The Pioneers shot 39 of 81 from the floor on the night, including 11 of 28 three-pointers. The only down side to the win was the poor shooting from the charity line as the Pioneers could only manage an 11 of 24 shooting effort.

Crowley’s Ridge will next face North Arkansas College at home on Thursday night with a 6:00 start time.

I'm still trying to figure out why we were in man to man "D" all night. Shorter College only hit about two 3's all night. They were scared to even try to shoot them. Even when they would get wide open, they'd still try to drive to the basket. Just about everything they shot was in side the three foot mark. A good portion of them were tip ins.

If they could only hit from inside, why didn't we go into a Zone "D" and clog up the middle? doh.gif

Much harder to rebound out of a zone and CRC has struggled rebounding all year. They probably stayed in man for that reason.
Anyway, so what they won by 19 - and still played man to man. headbonk.gif

How's it harder to rebound out of a Zone, the gangs already there?

CRC won due to having superior talent ....... compared to Shorter College.

Rebound in man to man you are already have an opponent you are assigned to.
Rebound in zone you have to find someone to block out.

I still feel that if you have the numbers advantage under the basket, you shouldn't have any problem boxing out.

With either "D", Man to Man or Zone, you're going to have to step that 1 to 3 steps to get inside someone. Rebounding comes from the heart. Some people can do it consistently. Others consistently can't do it ..... but they do consistently have excuses. It all comes from the heart. How bad do you want it?
